Super User Master Bait'r Posted March 21, 2015 Super User Posted March 21, 2015 This is going to be a fun combo. Talk about feathery light! Wow! Every time I take it out I'm still kind of shocked at how light and palmable it is. 7 Quote

thehooligan Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 First megabass rod came in today. The x7 Super Eiger. Put on my core 51 with yumeya spool. 8lb cxx. What a versatile rod, threw pop-xs, 3/8oz walkers and jerkbaits. 4 inch senkos, 1/16oz shakeyheads and flickshakes. Pretty much threw all my goto baits. Extremely sensitive and well built rod. Needs a slightly heavier reel to balance a bit better. Think I'll be pairing it with a zonda in the near future. I'd rank it right up there with my poison glorious but slightly behind the ultima. Nothing has matched that rod yet in my hands atleast... I'll definitely be adding more megabass rods to the arsenal. 13 Quote

thehooligan Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 lol, I need the new Aldebaran and a Zonda hedgehog for this rod !! Quote
IAY Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 lol, I need the new Aldebaran and a Zonda hedgehog for this rod !! I don't think you will get better balance from having heavier reel. Megabass rods that I have experienced and seen typically balances at front of the handle lock (Did hear it balances better with the new torzite guide ones). I love the X7 blank, since it gives a very crisp taper and strong back bone Beautiful combo! 1 Quote
Hogsticker Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 Got my new Alphas SV! Put it on my 6'9 Major Craft Corzza medium - regular fast. Should be great for shallow cranks. Quick note - NO bearings in the handle, 4 bushings. Fixed that right quick and added a 90 mm carbon handle. 3 Quote
hzzhangc Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 lol, I need the new Aldebaran and a Zonda hedgehog for this rod !! How do you like the CXX line? I tried 12 lb CXX and it's terrible, even the line conditioner doesnt help. Most of my BFS reels have 6 lb hybrid but I would like to try something new. Quote

The 8lb is great for all the 1/4-3/8oz baits I was throwing. Was a little heavy for the shakeyheads and flickshakes, actually prefer 6lb, 6lb hybrid, or 8lb floroclear. I fish hybrid and cxx all the time, I'd say hybrid is just slightly more manageable. Quote
I.rar Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Switched the knobs out on the Curado 50 and like these much better What handle is that? Quote
Diggy Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 Picked these up within the last few days. Plans for a few others I don't have. 8 Quote
