Is the Adelbaran MG just a JDM Core?

The alde mg7 is the JDM core. The alde mg is the only 50 size with a 5:8 gear ratio. That's what I have for crankin...

I regret tingly sold my mint conquest 51 shallow special last year, wasn't really using it. Later on, i realized the mistake i made letting that gem go. Thought i could make it work by picking up a used 51 on ebay earlier this year. Ended up selling that to get another mint 51. Sold that last week to a member here, bought alot of tackle and needed to pay some bills.

Then... a couple days ago Cheng had to post a new in box 51 shallow special and i couldn't restrain myself...

Reel just showed up today and i already have my hedgehog order in  :eyebrows:  We have a gold avail spool, bfs spool bearings, and an avail dragstar coming in....  :respect-059:

Not making light of the thread. I was digging around in the garage today and come across one of my old setups, this is a Shimano Bantam Mag Plus 25OXsg XHS. This was the big dog super high speed reel, had a blazing fast gear ratio of 5.1:1, the main gear is about the size of a quarter and it has 1 bearing, the rod is a Pistol Grip Shakespeare 5'6" med action grahite composite. This was how we use to get it done, this reel will still cast a 3/8oz spinnerbait 30 yards. Looking at this setup, almost makes me embarrassed at the money I have tied up in new high tech graphite rods and improved reels. Anyway just wanted to share.

I used very similar gear for years. Back then, it was a lot if money for a young man to spend, but looking back, I don't regret it. I'm sure I'll feel the same when I look back 20 years from now.

Any tackle with the word "graphite" and "bearing" in the description is "modern"... ;)

You got me there, this was considered hi-tech equipment even as late as the mid 80's. I have some reels from the early 1900's through 1940. I still have my very first quality reel that was ever given me an old Abumatic 60, that my Grandmother gave me, believe it is circa 1950 +- a few years.

I came from using a 6ft berkley rod and Mitchell 302 that my dad gave me. He won it in a miniature golf competition in the 60s, lol.

I used that combo up to about 5 years ago when the rod started to finally crack. Sometimes I look back and think about that old trusty combo and what I'm using now, lol. Good times !!

T3 1016 with 90 mm Tatula handle - Silver, Black and Blue

Curado 51E with 90mm Avail handle - Green, Gold and Gunmetal

If I had half a brain I would use this money to buy more rods, but I find this equally, if not more satisfying.

^ Reels look great !!

Thanks. The POM knobs are gonna take some getting use to, but the green knob caps and nut retainer match the reel perfect!!

I'll bet no one here thought that you were making light of this Thread! This Thread is about showing your gear. My first baitcasting combo was a lot like yours in the pic. I had a Shimano Bantam Mag Plus 250SG and a 5'6" Fenwick Eagle Graphite. Unfortunately,  I no longer have the rod but I do have the reel. My neglect as a kid makes it unusable today. I bought a couple of the Fenwick Eagle Graphites on ebay a while back and the Shimano that I had is on ebay all the time. I have thought about buying another one and using it just to bring back old memories.

Two 200E5s I use for crankin. Both have Hawgtech 102mm swept handles with blue accents. I bought two Chronarch E star drags to put on these reels but I couldn't get them to fit. Was I mistaken to think they would fit? I like the Curado star drag better but I thought the black would look good on these. I'll probably buy blue ones eventually anyways haha.

Curado 200E7 with Hawgtech 94mm straight handle with purple accents (yeah I know it looks pink but I promise it's more of a purple haha)

Shimano Scorpion 1500XT with a Hawgtech 94mm straight, cork knobs, and gold accents.

Chronarch 200E6 with Hawgtech 94mm straight with blue accents.

Shimano Curado 200HG and Shimano Chronarch CH150CI4HG. Haven't gotten to upgrade them yet but hopefully I will soon. Also got a Metanium HG on the way! Thinking maybe a gold avail handle with sky blue accents for the Metanium from Hedgehog. What do you guys think? And sorry for the huge post, should have put all of the reels in one picture.

Tried some aftermarket CF handles recently. Also since I got less and less time on fishing I sold my metanium and got this combo, a curado 51 paired with Majorcraft Corkish 2 pic casting rod. Finally got a chance to fishing today and very impressed with the high quality cork handle and lightweight of the rod. Perfect combo for keeping in my car.

I'm not 100% sure if they do but I believe they will. PM Piscicidal, he could tell you!

Apparently you have no brand loyalty but I like that! :eyebrows:
