Oh, I thought that $22 was for a pair! $40 for some plastic and aluminum knobs seems a little steep

Lol yeah but look at it this way, price some bassarts, zpi, etc... Which can run you 40 and up per knob! The quality is superb and they come with 2 bearings per knob, DRESS makes top notch stuff and pretty innovative. I'll post my scorpion DC with the detonator handle later.

I'm about to get my first Daiwa, and I'm interested in customizing it. Going for the T3 Ballistic, only because it is on sale for $125 at TW lol! This whole customizing thing is NOT cheap! I want a HawgTech handle, these knobs, maybe different color accent screws and such from hedgehog studio... It'll cost me more than the reel!

I don't believe the hawgtech handle will allow you to use anything but their cork grips. Maybe someone else can confirm.

I know you can use factory Shimano knobs.

Be sure to give us a review after you fish it :) I added some after market knobs on mine and I have Hedgehog AIR BFS bearings on the way.

how hard are they to swap out?

If I can swap them out, anyone can swap them out lol..  each knob comes with 2 bearings, I think extra bushings and extra washers. If I recall they also come with a little end cap remover and instructions

JRob is correct, our handles will accept all Shimano knobs in addition to our cork knobs.

Thanks!

Here is my new swim jig set up. Rod arrived yesterday. I hope to get it out today and see how it feels. Casting in the yard for the last hour as felt great. This tip feels great. Nothing like the XF I am used to.

Also have 3 or 4 other reels that I just can't locate at the present time and a 2-piece 6'10'' MH Compre casting rod. I am excited to get the 4 new rods out soon, as I haven't even had time to use them yet. Also looking at a nice 2-piece stick from the MajorCraft Over7 line.

My, how things have changed!

I havent been out for a week, ran down the road for a half hour to throw the buzzbait, a flapslap, vibration-x, and the shakeyhead. And..... No fish :Idontknow:

Got the two aldebarans lined up with zpi knobs and bearings, the mg got boca spool bearings. Have to pick up the boca or hedgehog tool to do the bearings on the bfs. The core has eva knobs, might switch them up soon....

Thanks! It really is my favorite platform. So much so that I have sold 2 Steez recently and replaced them both with Alphas reels.

Customized Citica 201E:

Only posted the reel by itself since I don't yet have a rod to go with it.  That reel began life as a Citica 201E before receiving the following upgrades:

Chronarch E aluminum brake case
Chronarch E 7:1 gears
Chronarch E spool-tension knob
Core 101MG drag star
Hawgtech 102mm swept handle w/ Shimano Power Grip II knobs
Daiwa drag spring washers
Crankshaft bearing
Carbontex drag

The reel has also been super-tuned, painted by Calfish, and I drilled holes in the thumb rest to make it look a little different.  Also drilled the crankshaft to shave off a little weight, but the savings is so small it's really not noticeable.
