thehooligan Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 Went to chase some trout on sunday, missed one on an inline spinner, ended up with two small bass. Brought out my 6'5 cumulus with ci41000+, and 6'3 fenwick Smallie rod with sustain 1000fg. Picked up my first dobyns champion extreme yesterday, got the 702, pretty excited to compare this with my 6'10 cumulus. Then i checked TW and noticed they got the chronarch ci4 lefties in, so i had to pick one of those up as well, lol. Got the 151 7:6 gear ratio. I think the chronarch will be perfect for that 702 extreme. 2 Quote
Super User kickerfish1 Posted October 15, 2013 Super User Posted October 15, 2013 Nice looking outfits! That extreme is a nice rod, and should fit nicely with your other quality combos. 1 Quote
thehooligan Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 Nice looking outfits! That extreme is a nice rod, and should fit nicely with your other quality combos. Found a new in box curado 51e the day after i bought the extreme so ill pair them together. Got this chronarch out lastnight and im pretty impressed. First bait i always try on new reels is a 1/4oz excalibur lipless crank. Was getting some serious distance with 12lb mono. 2 brakes on and the dial turned off. Turned it up to 6 and can see it will be great for windy days. Spooling up 20lb braid now and adding 2 more bearings to the knobs... 1 Quote
Super User kickerfish1 Posted October 20, 2013 Super User Posted October 20, 2013 Sounds good. The 50 series shimano reels are some of my favorite all purpose casting reels. I too have the curado 50 on a champ extreme. In the sunlight the two are a stunning pair. The scorpion 1000xt also looks good on a champ extreme. Thinking of adding a hawgtech swept handle with gold accents on the curado 50. Would really go well with it. I would love to hear how the new ci4 chronarch compares against a 50 series shimano that you have in terms of distance with the same bait keeping the amount of variables down. Quote
Super User bigbill Posted October 21, 2013 Super User Posted October 21, 2013 Nice, but just remember...give KVD a Zebco 202 and he will still kick all our arses. It's what you know and what you can do with it. KVD maybe good but I let no one intimidate me. When we're fishing the fish has no idea what equipment we have nor who's on the other end. Let's be fair and give me the zebco 202 too I was weened on that reel. I never judge anyone by there equipment too. My point is I seen what some fisherman can do with 150 yards of fishing line wrapped around a soda can when they twirl it with a drop shot and 2oz saltwater sinker. Some of these fisherman as so good they can cast as far as some of the surfcasters do too. At the low cost of a five cent soda can, a spool of line, a hook, a sinker for under $6? And he's fishing in the same spot we are catching the same flounder/Flatfish too. Does he intimidate me? No but I do respect him for his talent with his equipment. He's fishing to feed his family. Bill No flames, no rant, just some fishing facts for fun. Quote
