How is the power pro line im looking to get new braid this year I used to always run spider wire but with issues. Iv been recomended the suffix stuff and fire line but its a little on the pricie side when I do find it. Power pro is decently priced and readily available so im thinking of getting power pro cuz its carried at all the local shops and walmart.

I don't think you can go wrong with power pro.

I run powerpro on all my reels, and I love it. Never had any problems with it, and the price is right compared to other braids. Right you you can get any 150yd spool in any weight you want for $12...and free shipping

Power Pro is excellent braid. I buy it in 1lb spools. If you use it properly, you will love it. You can also buy it in any Walmart or K-Mart.

I have been using power pro for 10 years now.  It is all the braid I use.

This thread is going to be two pages long with people telling why you shouldn't use powerpro. Yes, there are new smoother, quieter lines. I have tried almost all of these newer lines because the bait-monkey demands this of me but like the old saying goes...if it ain't broke don't fix it. I've never had one single failure with powerpro. No break offs, no (Palomar)knot failures, nothing....it's bomb-proof as far as I'm concerned.

I started using Power Pro a couple years ago, and it's become my choice in braid. I've tried a lot of different braids over the years and for the money, you can't beat Power Pro. :D

thanks guys time to stock up on some power pro

Power pro is not the smoothest and it is noisy on the retrieve.  Sufix performance Braid is less noisy.  Sufix 832 smoother, softer and quite on the retrieve .  Go with Sufix 832 it's a lot better than power pro.

Maybe its quiter, but for almost double the price is it really worth it? Not sure how it is "a lot better"...Ill deal with a little bit of noise(which I dont notice), over spending almost double for 832. I am sure it is a good line, and if it drops in price after it has been out for awhile I will probably try it. PP works great for me, I would rather spend that extra $8 (as insignificant as it seems to others) on a new plug, or a couple packs of plastics. just my .02 though

You can find more reasons in this review - one I thought was pretty well done, especially in the comparison dept.:

As for me, I have about 3,000 yards of Power Pro left, so I won't be switching anytime soon, but that doesn't keep from trying new stuff.

For the OP, Power Pro is fine.

You'll probably never hear me complain about Power Pro.  You're getting exactly what you pay for.  It's been great to me.  Plus it's just strong.  Goofy strong.

As far as 832 goes, I'll pass.  I was not impressed with it at all.

One of the joys of fishing and having such a huge market to choose from. I've never really been a fan of fluoro, I'm giving it a fair shot though. Experimenting is really fun. You never know when you may find that perfect line that you really like.

I love Power Pro, till last year.  I bought a couple new spools and was having all sorts of breaking issues.  Breaking while tying knots, breaking on everything.  Mind you I have been using Power Pro for a couple years and had never had any problems of this sort.

Contacted Power Pro, sent in samples and it turns out I got 2 spools of different lbs that were both bad.  Both spools bought trough Wal-Mart.  30lbs and 50lbs

Power Pro sent me replacement spools and no problems with them.

There are better, rounder, smoother lines, but it is hard to beat Power Pro price wise and it is tough as nails.

couldn't have said it better myself. this issue often comes up and some people will always bring up that fireline is rounder, sufix performance is smoother, etc., etc. but, for a braided line that is literally one-third to one-half less expensive, PP is an outstanding line. FWIW, a new, improved powerpro is in the works and may be announced at the next icast show.

Power pro outdated............pure non sense.

I've heard all the techincal mumbo jumbo, just another way to hook fishermen.

I use PP, 10-15-20#, so far this year without any breakage or line problems I have sailfish, kingfish, snook, tarpon, jacks, barracuda and dozens of bass 2 of which in the 8-10# range thru heavy vegitation, and I'm a lousy fisherman.

Any braid could accomplish the same thing ( some of my fish were caught using fins braid), it isn't the line, it's the person using it.

Exactly my point on noisy line, you can actually feel the line rubbing the rod tip on the retrieve. It is sometimes difficult to isolate where the noise is coming from. You would think it is the reel that making that hacksaw/grinding noise and feeling but it's actually the line rubbing thru the rod tip guide.

It sort of defeats the purpose of maintaining your reel to get that buttery smooth retrieve when your lines makes that hacksaw/grinding feeling on the retrieve. It's a good thing we have choices on the lines.

As we always say, you get what you pay for. :D
