DnaDProBassShops Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 I know there are a lot of these topics ive been reading around and am still having a hard time deciding what works for best and what i should get. I just became a member of a bass club, and we will be doing 10 tournys this year, so id like to get a solid 5 setups to start. im thinking Cranking, Flipping/pitching, Worm/Jig, Topwater/frog, and spinnerbaits. Im kind of starting from scratch this season. Right now for reels I have a Revo S, Citica, BPS Pro qualifier, and a Pleuger asaro. Now im looking to get new rods to 5 setups. I'm interested in the Fenwick HMG, Veritas, BPS . series which i have owned and liked alot. I need some help deciding what sizes and action I should be getting on to the particular situations. Quote

Super User roadwarrior Posted March 22, 2011 Super User Posted March 22, 2011 Here you go: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1141187546 This is something to consider as you build your collection over time: Technique specific rods are for "enthusiasts". Almost all your fishing can be done with just one rod. Beyond that, you only "need" three rods: Spinning: 6 1/2' or 7', M or MH, Fast Action (soft plastics and light lures) Baitcasting: MH or H, Fast Action (jigs, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits and all single hooks) Baitcasting: MH, Moderate Action (all treble hook lures) The AVS68MXF is the spinning version; the AVC68MXF, baitcasting. Either rod could be considered "all around", but are targeted for single hooks. For treble hooks, the Avis AVC66MF is my choice for topwater and jerkbaits because it has a soft tip, but is still firm enough to work these lures easily. For medium weight crankbaits, my rod is a AVC70MM. 8-) 1 Quote
