Rolltide09 Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 Been looking at either a casting setup or spinning for throwing super flukes and other weightless texas rigged soft plastics such as trick worms, finnesse worms etc.As well as a few 1/8-3/16oz weighted t-rigs like 4"-5" lizards and u-tales. Possibly dropshoting in shallow water around wood but thats not a necessity. The 702c will be matched with a 50e and not too sure on the spinning outfit (Never owned one). Whats yalls advice? Quote
Chico Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 The 702c is only a fast action while the AVS68MXF is extra fast. I would use the extra fast action for all bottom contact baits. Quote
Super User Chris at Tech Posted March 21, 2011 Super User Posted March 21, 2011 If you've never had a spinning rig, I'd say go spinning here. Quote
repper Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 I have both rods you've mentioned by in the opposite versions. I've got a legend tournament topwater rod by St Croix. that's 6'8"MXF rod that I use for everything you've mentioned. And I've got aCurado 50E on it. I also use this rod for topwaters and jerkbaits. And the 702C I have in the spinning rod version with a Daiwa Fuego reel. I use this rod almost always for dropshotting. And maybe for very small ripbaits, or smallish fluke type baits. I really like both setups but I think you would love the St Croix topwater rod, with your curado on it Quote
