I just picked one up at the bps sale this weekend, A couple times when i hit the trigger to cast the trigger wouldnt go back into place. When I brought it to Bps they said it was the drag- set too loose. So i suggested we loosen it up again to verify, when we did it didnt happen again. The rep from shimano was there and he said to wait until the end of the classic and just pick up a new one if I wasnt comfortable with this one, what do you guys think? I played around with it some more when I got home, it would seem whenever I adjusted the breaks this would happen, along with a really rough rotation of the reel, if I tightened the drag it would correct itself. Has this happened to anyone?

return it...

Loose drag will cause this issue. Adjusting the brakes as long as everything is seeded correctly should not.

The reel has a drag pad, or drag spring washer problem! :)

You just got brushed off. 8-)

I would return the reel for a cash back and purchase from another source.

I would not hold onto it while the store deceided to get more in stock, could not happen until late in the season.

first I would say that it probably could be a fluke thing and could possibly happen with any brand reel. Don't under estimate the Curado, they are great reels. It does sound like you got the brush off but if the changes made in the store seemed to correct the issue there is a chance they thought the same and weren't trying to brush you off.

If your local bps is out of them, have them look on the computer and see who has them.  Then have one shipped in for you.  The Spfld store does that all the time.  I have had reels shipped in from Chicago and rods from Houston.  It only takes a few days.

I don't think they were giving me the brush off, I got the reel using the trade in so I picked up the curado for 140 bucks, this bps is the only one in canada... He just told me to wait until classic is over since they ran out of stock and probably won't be receiving anymore for a week or two. This guy was a shimano rep, not even a bps employee.. I didn't want my money back then I'd have a hassle getting the new one in at the same price, thanks for the heads up though

Weird, you can't do the reel trade in on Shimano here.

Really? They won't allow you to tradde in and save on a shimano? That's strange.... Well I'm glad they do here, they usually sell the e7 for 229 here.. With the classic it was 179 then 30 bucks off with a trade in, I couldn't resist, guys were buying 5 at a time.

Good deal.  Get it exchanged ASAP, though.   :)

I would return and get the Revo.  I have the Curado 200e7 and I like the Revo way better. Its much smoother and casts better as well

Definately a great score. But I would try to make sure there is one reserved for you when they get there new shipment. You never no when they get them in they may sell out again before you get there.

Just a couple of points...

You should have no trouble exchanging it.  Just ask the store if they are in stock, and if they aren't, ask them when they will be.

There are 2 BPS stores in Canada.

Shimano Canada and Shimano US are technically different companies, and it's illegal to set retail pricing in Canada.

$143.00 with free shipping. Returnable also.

Less than the $149.00 plus tax you paid.

I thought She-Man-O (as Muddy used to call them) didn't participate in the reel trade in program.

I bought one at this price ($142.95) last year from a seller in Florida and free cleaning and lube for life was included. Sometimes you get lucky on EBay.
