JohnMac Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 I absolutely love the performance and price of my shimano curado 201e and now as my chronarch 51mg begins to slowly decline with its age I am wondering is the 50E the same quality as the best in show 200e that is its big brother? Quote
Mr SwimJig Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 It is a great little reel. Basically a scaled down version of the 200E7 and E5. SJ Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted March 15, 2011 Super User Posted March 15, 2011 I'm a big fan of the CH 50MG, I have two and one is "new" yesterday. What amazes me is the Curado 50E at a lower MSRP and it's a BETTER reel! Crazy... 8-) Quote
hookingem Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 The 50e is awesome! Buy one you WONT regret it! Quote
WanderLust Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 It rocks! Does a really nice job with lighter baits and have a nice all around gear ratio that can be used for a tons of applications. Best of all, its a Shimano. Quote

Decline in what aspect? A little TLC might make it good as new again if not better. Quote
rubba bubba Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 It's a deceptive reel - because it's so small and light, it may feel 'cheap' but it is anything but. Excellent reel that has pretty much no competition out there in it's size/price range (which is why I think it's priced higher than the 200). Quote
kbkindle Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 I heard it said that the 50e replaces the 100d reels ,is that correct Quote
Georgia Jeff Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 It does have the same line capacity at 10lb/105yds. It weighs less 6.9 vs 7.4 oz. It has a narrower spool however and I love the wider yet shallower spool of the Curado 100D. I also liked the silver color ALOT better than the green. I bet they are awesome reels but I will hold on to my 100D's untill they wear out! Quote
