I absolutely love the performance and price of my shimano curado 201e and now as my chronarch 51mg begins to slowly decline with its age I am wondering is the 50E the same quality as the best in show 200e that is its big brother?

I'm a big fan of the CH 50MG, I have two

and one is "new" yesterday. What amazes

me is the Curado 50E at a lower MSRP and

it's a BETTER reel!

Crazy...

It rocks! Does a really nice job with lighter baits and have a nice all around gear ratio that can be used for a tons of applications.

Best of all, its a Shimano.

Decline in what aspect? A little TLC might make it good as new again if not better.

It's a deceptive reel - because it's so small and light, it may feel 'cheap' but it is anything but.  Excellent reel that has pretty much no competition out there in it's size/price range (which is why I think it's priced higher than the 200).

It does have the same line capacity at 10lb/105yds.  It weighs less 6.9 vs 7.4 oz.  It has a narrower spool however and I love the wider yet shallower spool of the Curado 100D.  I also liked the silver color ALOT better than the green.  I bet they are awesome reels but I will hold on to my 100D's untill they wear out!

I'm also a big fan of the chronarch 50mg, but you've got me interested... how so, is it better?
