It's a nice rod and even a better deal at the sale price. I have the PDC705-1 MH/MF that I use for cranks with the Prodigy reel.  Looking at the micro guide rod which is also on sale for $79.

I was also looking into the micro guide prod. The 7' heavy for a frog/heavy cover rod.

The hammond store didn't have them in a couple of weeks ago but I'll take a trip there this weekend. The sale price on them makes them a really good buy.

Got my Prodigy 7'M/F today and I like how its built and feels right out of the box. I'm going to put my Team Diawa TDHi2 on it and use it for T-rigging and jigs. I also got the weight balancing system and am intrigued by what its doing to the balance. Having read all the discussion about rod balance lately definetly has sparked my interest in the subject (again). The one thing I don't like is that the ratings for power and action are not on the rod, but the model # is, PDC704-1. Did you also order the balancing system? And if so, it would be nice to find out what you think of it. I'm still 2 months away from getting serious with it... >:)

I have the PDC705-1 MH/MF casting rod and I also have the PDS704-2 spinning model. I don't have the balancing kit for either rod and pretty much use both rods for moving baits.

The Hammond, IN. store got the micro guide rods in and my wife convinced me to go ahead and put the PDMC705-1 7' MH/F 1/4-1 oz rod on layaway as a early spring fishing present. She talked with one of the salesman about the number of fishing setups he had and when he said 40, she smiled and said go ahead and get it. It will be out just in time for that first outing and they are on sale for $79.99.

I now have 3 of the Prodigy rods with me just picking up the above mentioned micro guide rod and matched it with a Daiwa Exceler 7.1 100SHL. The PDS704-2 will be paired with a Quantum Catalyst PTi-B20 and can't wait til spring or at least some warmer weather here to get on the water with the new setups.

I still have to go ****** one before they go back up to $99.  Chi city,  how much more sensitive is the XML over the prodigy,  I know you have fished both.   I have 2 spinning and 2 casting XML's but have never fished a prodigy,  just held them in the store.

Yes I have a couple of spinning and casting XML's and I would have to say they are more sensitve but my XML's are for different techniques. My previous Prodigy was for crankbaits and felt pretty good. My XML rods are rig and jig rods and really shined in those aspects. The Prodigy micro guide rod will be my first prodigy for jigs and t rigs and can't wait til I can get out to test it.
