jrubow Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 I an needing a reel for throwing t-Rig plastic and jigs on a Falcon Cara Headturner. My Curado is great but felt the STX with 6.4-1 would be a great choice also and it seems a bit smoother. What do you guys recommend? :-? Quote
BassThumb Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Either would be a great choice, but I would recommend a hight speed reel for all worming and jigging. Quote
WanderLust Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 High speed in either would be great. I love both of my curados, when lubed and tuned is such a great reel. I have an Abu Winch and it does feel smooth but I like the weight and overall body style of Shimano better. Quote
Mr SwimJig Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Either reel would be great. If your fishing heavy cover and need to get the fish out of cover quickly then go with the 7.0:1 reel, if not then the 6.4:1 would be fine. I personally would go with the STX, I really like the drag and the dual braking system better. But you won't go wrong with either reel. SJ Quote
flippin and pitchin Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Both reels have excellent reviews and perform extremely well. You would be happy with either. What models feels best in the hand? It's a win win scenario. Quote
Super User NorcalBassin Posted March 13, 2011 Super User Posted March 13, 2011 You can find Curados for about $50 cheaper... STX not worth the price difference in my opinion. Quote
hookingem Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 Curado FTW! Plus it is a more economically sound option! Quote
jrubow Posted March 13, 2011 Author Posted March 13, 2011 Thanks guy's, I think I will stick with the Curado but if I keep having the same luck as I had the past few trips I might just get a cane pole. Quote
Super User grimlin Posted March 13, 2011 Super User Posted March 13, 2011 I might be putting my curado E7 up for sale soon.Might just keep it and put it away for awhile too...I like my STX better. :-/ They are both good reels though. Too many baitcasters and none of them are really getting used like they should be. I'm going to primarily be fishing Daiwa Fuego and Revo STX this year. I'd like to pick up a pixy or a sol. who knows though..My momey is going toward other things besides fishing right now. Quote
Fat-G Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 Curado, it would look better too. It's also a lot lighter. Quote
