Shane Procell Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 I have never been a fan of braid. I have recently started using 30# power pro on one of my E7's and it works well for the heavy cover sawgrass. I'am thinking about trying braid on my Saros 2500 and 3000. Which braid and which # test has the best numbers for the spinning reel? Quote
Mr SwimJig Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 I would look at the new Suffix 832 in 30 or 20lbs test or if you want the best then try Daiwa Samurai braid in the same ratings. SJ Quote
WanderLust Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 If you like Power Pro than I would say a lighter version of that would be a good choice. I've tried a ton of different lines... This season Daiwa Samurai gets the call for both setups... Quote
BigMoneyGrip Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 I've got Fireline Crystal on my Saros F 2500. I'm more than happy with it. Quote
ChiCityBasser Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Just spooled up with SpiderWire Ultracast Fluoro braid on one setup in 30# and Power Pro 30# on another. Quote
TxFishingPlease Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 I did not like spiderwire and hated fireline. I use PowerPro, but have heard nothing but great things about Fins and the new Suffix braid. Quote
intheweeds Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 I fish 30# Power Pro on my Sahara 2500 and it works great. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted March 12, 2011 Super User Posted March 12, 2011 I use the 8# mono equivelent diameter superlines on most all my spinning rigs. That is 30# in some and 40# in others. For light/ultra light I use the 6# mono equivelent superlines. Usually that is 20# test in some and 30 in others. Quote
A-Rob Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 I use 15-20# test Power Pro or Spiderwire Stealth Camo Works good for me in heavy cover. If I'm in more open water or smallmouth fishing I attach a fluoro leader with a J-knot Quote

Super User RoLo Posted March 12, 2011 Super User Posted March 12, 2011 I've tried pretty near every brand of braid, and quite frankly, braided polyethylene is braided polyethylene. For a few years, I used and enjoyed PowerPro, that is, until I encountered a bad batch. Turning down a free replacement spool, I migrated instead to Berkley Fireline Tracer Braid, where I plan to stay. BTW: All my spinning reels are spooled with "30-lb" braid. Although it's very thin line, 'line burrowing' and "luff knots" are virtually non-existent with 30 lb test. Roger Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted March 12, 2011 Super User Posted March 12, 2011 For me braid is braid, I use PP and Fins. I use nothing but spinning both fresh and salt, 10# or 15# max for freshwater and 15# or 20# for saltwater. As a recreational fisherman I see no reason to use heavier line, I don't mind giving the fish a chance. Quote

Same here nothing more than #15 on my small spinners.I can whip a 40" redfish pretty darn quick with #15 power pro. Some mono backing and a 150 yards is what I use inshore and freshwater. Quote
Super User dodgeguy Posted March 12, 2011 Super User Posted March 12, 2011 powerpro is outdated.i suggest fireline braid or sufix 832 or diawa braid.all 3 are far superior to powerpro. Quote
