APK62 Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 I was reading the reviews on both of these lines and they were all excellent. Haven't ever fish with either one I would like to have some opinions on which one would you get? Andy Quote
Mr SwimJig Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 Yo-Zuri all the way, not a fan of P-Line CX or CXX, but am trying the new P-Line Voltage. SJ Quote
Fat-G Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 I haven't tried the Silver Thread, but P-Line and Yo-Zuri both make good products. However the P-Line Floroclear is the WORST line I have ever used. Quote
hookingem Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 I haven't tried the Silver Thread, but P-Line and Yo-Zuri both make good products. However the P-Line Floroclear is the WORST line I have ever used. I gave the flouroclear a shot and had such a horrid experience I gave up on P-Line all together. Maye I'll have to buy a spool of CXX and give it one last shot. Quote
Big Tom Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 And now I'm going to be the guy that pops in and says that Fluoroclear has never given me trouble in 2+ years of fishing it. I only use it in 15 lb. test though. I have loved all the P-Line products I have tried. CX Premium, Fluoroclear, and CXX. The Silver thread ain't too shabby either. I don't have a ton of experience with it though. Never tried Yo-Zuri. I would pick up a spool of 12 lb. CXX. It has some memory but I have yet to find a stronger line per lb. test. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted March 10, 2011 Super User Posted March 10, 2011 I fished P-Line CXX for several years, #6 on spinning tackle, #12 & #17 on baitcasting gear. The line is tough as nails! Many of our members are huge fans of this brand. I prefer Yo-Zuri Hybrid. You should give both lines a try and see what you think. Both brands are dirt cheap! 8-) Quote
intheweeds Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 I use Yo-zuri Hybrid Ultra soft in 8 pound test on my spinning rod and I like it a lot. I had 12# Yo-zuri on my baitcater and it worked very well. I wanted some heavier line on my bc but they did not have any Yo- zuri in heavier pound test at my local store, so I am not sure how the bigger diameter stuff works. I have some friends that like Yo-zuri and some that don't (it seems to be that way with ALL lines). So try them all and see which one you like best. Quote
Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted March 10, 2011 Super User Posted March 10, 2011 I've not used the Silver Thread Excalibur but have used the standard AN40 and liked it pretty well. I really like P-line, don't use CX much but fish with CXX and Floroclear and love both of them. I've used from 6-15lb floroclear without any problems and 8-20lb CXX. The best all around would be the Yo-Zuri Hybrid but I prefer FC and P-line. Quote
WanderLust Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 Let's see... Tried P Line CX - The copoly coating peeled off after less than a month other than that it was good. Tried CXX as well, too much memory but tough as nails. From this forum, lots of people recommended Yo-Zuri ultra soft so I purchased large spools of 6, 8, 10 and 12... Have it on three rigs but we'll see after a season. Quote
Locked Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Yo-Zuri handles well and is pretty strong. I tried P-Line Fluoroclear.. it seems like they wrapped the line on the spool wrong. I can feel and see where the line knicked itself from being wrapped too tightly or something. The line was almost dug in. That was with 1 spool of #12 line so it may be a fluke. I would definitely go with the Yo-Zuri Hybrid. p.s. the Mist Green Yo-Zuri line looks like a neon green out on the water. It is very easy to see. I would also like to add I've caught fish in gin clear water with this "neon green" line. ;D Quote
APK62 Posted March 11, 2011 Author Posted March 11, 2011 I am going to try the Yo-Zuri Hybrid line. Soft for the spinning reels and regular for baitcasters. Quote
jdw174 Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Haven't used the Excalibur, but I've used Super Silver Thread and AN40 for years and I can't say enough good about it. Great abrasion resistance....I've never had the line snap on me. Quote

Super User Hammer 4 Posted March 12, 2011 Super User Posted March 12, 2011 I also like the Yozuri, but I'd recommend you get the Ultrasoft, for both baitcast, and spinning reels. I use the ultrasoft on all my rigs except for flippin, and some swimbait, test ranges from 6lb to 20 lb. Quote
Kevinator1 Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 I've used the Silver Thread Excalibur line for years and continue to use it because I feel it is the best copolymer line available. Very smooth and very strong. I highly recommend it. I am going to try the P-Line Voltage copolymer just to compare. 8-) Quote
BassThumb Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 What I like about CXX and Ultra Soft is that they're much stronger than their rated breaking strength and you can downsize your line. Quote
