Rolltide09 Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 Seems that I can not make up my mind and need yalls input. I just purchased a DX744 and took it out for a test run last week in 20mph winds with a 3/16 t-rigged plastic. Needless to say I was very impressed in the sensitivity and quality. Landed about 20 bass and one that went 9.28lbs. Only thing I cant get over is the length. May sell it idk yet. I am getting ready to order more and need some advice. I am debating on getting a dx703 because of the extra fast tip because I hear of the added sensitivity. I will probably dedicate the rod for 1/8 - 5/16oz bullets for t-rigged baits, weightless worms and light jigs . How much difference will I see with the extra fast tip? What are some of the drawbacks? I am looking at purchasing the dx704 for jigs as well as t-rigs 3/8oz and up. Other than a flipping / pitching rig I hope to have all I need for bottom contact baits. Give me your opinions and suggestions. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted March 6, 2011 Super User Posted March 6, 2011 Action & Power: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1141187546 I only own one, so based on that, here's my two cents: The original Champion 683C is what I own: http://www.histackleboxshop.com/Dobyns-Champion-Casting-Rod-683C-p/dobyns-rod-champion-683c.htm If you like a split grip, this is your rod! The components and craftsmanship are outstanding. Sensitivity ranks right up there with G. Loomis IMX series. The rod balances perfectly with the CH 50MG or Core 50MG7. Power is a true MH with a firm tip. As noted in the description, this is a perfect rod for soft plastics, jigs and any other single hook lures. 8-) Quote
