gatogordo Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 I fish alot of unweighted finese worms in a lot of clear water pits. I started off trying to fish with what I had. which was the lightest rod -med-fast allstar classic rod and a 150 calcutta or cardiff. On days it wasn't windy wasn't too bad. Next year I bought a Spirex and Berkeley Lighting. I could cast further, but acuuracy was terrble and I dont have the opportunity to fish enough with it.. So this year I would like to buy a 7' Med/Lt casting rod and finese reel. I dont want to spend more than $300. I hear alot about Curado 50, but not much other. So any advice is accpeted. Quote
Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted March 2, 2011 Super User Posted March 2, 2011 For a reel I would either look at the Curado 50 or a Daiwa Sol. You can get either for around and under $150 on eBay. I've never used a 7'ML trigger rod but I did just buy a 7'ML Carrot Stix Wild spinning rod and I believe they make it in a casting rod. Quote
gatogordo Posted March 2, 2011 Author Posted March 2, 2011 Thanks. Are those 2 reels good with light line/small lures? I am an EKU grad. Go Colonels!!! Quote

Fixed it, if you ever find a Core 50 for $150, I got dibs. ;D Quote
WanderLust Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 I have a Shimano Curado 51E... Nice reel for this. I have it paired with a G Loomis BCR803 GLX which I got used in the flea market. Fantastic setup for light plastics. As bought a backup 6'8 rod (Powell Max 683C) which is also really nice for this application. Curado 50 $150 - $200 Powell Max $140 new So well within your price range. If you can find a used GLX Loomis for a reasonable price I highly advise it. Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted March 2, 2011 Super User Posted March 2, 2011 I have a St Croix LT 6'9" ML-XF casting rod. I use it for all finesse rigs. If you can afford it, that's the one you're looking for. St Croix's rods almost never go on sale. Quote
