Those of you who use braid with a fluorocarbon leader for flipping, how long of a leader and what size fluoro do you normally use? I normally don't use a leader for flipping, but I have two partial spools of 17# fluoro (maybe 50-75 yards on each), and I'm looking for something to use it for. It's so expensive, and I don't want to throw it out, but it's not enough to fill a reel.

I use a leader that goes up the the legnth of the reel. I only use leaders on my pitching set-ups and all my rods are 7ft or more. i don't want that know going through the guides so no more than 6ft.

My Flippin' stick is 7'5", and I was thinking about using roughly 5' of the 17# fluorocarbon. Does that sound about right? Do you think that 17# fluoro is too heavy (stiff) for flipping?

I typically use braid when I am flipping, but I have tied a 20 lb fluorocarbon leader and I feel that it helps get bites.  I have never had a problem with breakoffs.  17 lb would work too, but if you were fishing mostly grass, I would just use braid.  It is, however, a little more difficult to tie than other lines.

What knot do you guys use for attaching flouro to braid? For example... 30# Power Pro to 12# Flouro (BPS XPS)

My leader is normally the approximate length of the rod.  I fish lakes with quite a bit of brush on the bottoms and the leader makes it so much easier when I hang up and need to break off.  I use 15 lb test fluoro with braid of any test from 30 - 50 lbs.
