As you know I've been making some post regarding my search for a new rod setup- this morning I came across a flyer showing st.croix premier rods going on sale for 35% off, I've never used a st.croix rod and was wondering what you have to say about them, keeping mind they're the premiers, I'd probably pick up a 6'6 m f for jerkbaiting and a spinning for weightless plastic/ finess, what do you think at that price?

I've never fished one more than a few casts but I like St. Croix. If you can get a deal that makes them more affordable than that sounds good to me.

I have an Avid and its been a workhorse for me.

IMO, solid sticks for the money, especially if you can get a 35% discount on a new one. Won't be the fanciest/lightest/most sensistive rod on the block, but won't let you down either. Landed a 45# flathead on my 6'6" ML Premier last year using 8# line and a shaky head after a 1 hr. 45 minute fight. Good bang for the buck at a mid-level price range.

I have a 6'6" premier and I use it a lot mainly for light cranks, jerks and some plastics. I've had it for 3 years and no complaints. They are very good bang for your buck rods and at 35% off I can't see you regretting the  purchase. I also own a 7mh Avid and its a great rod.

I only fish St. Croix. I have a premier for crankbaits and it has served me well for two years now. I also have a avid and legend tournament. All of these rods are high quality, sensitive and look great. The premier is the first St. Croix I got and as you can see I haven't stopped buying them. Great deal for a good rod.

Sounds like a deal I can't pass up! How do the st.croix premier rods compare to the mojo basss rods? Better or worse?

I have both and prefer the premier. Not a fan of split grip rods, So the mojo rarely get's used.

Is that sale a local deal or is it a big chain store?

Heck yea you should go for that deal! They are the lowest end St. Croix rod still made in the USA. They use the same blanks as the Triumph, Mojo, and new Eyecon lines so the action and feel will be the same. However, they will have the full handle and more conservative color (compared to the Mojos and Eyecon). You can always use it for a season (or less/more) and then take advantage of their upgrade program and upgrade to an Avid or higher.

Whets
