lynyrdsky1 Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 I snapped my rod in half pond fishing this morning. I slipped and fell trying to save my tackle bag from falling in the water and broke my 7'mh carbonlite and my 6'm pro angler. Should I get another carbonlite or should I buy a falcon Bucoo? Quote
central.PA.bass Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 I would go with another carbonlite if you liked it.. it wasn't the rods fault that it broke.. Quote
hookingem Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 Go for a shimano rod! You wont regret it crucial or a compre. Quote

I think no matter how much you weigh, it woulda snapped if someone fell on it! I feel your pain, I've had more rods snap from falling or stepping on them than by settin the hook. Quote

I think what happened was I fell and my hand pressed down on the rod in the right spot and snapped it. It's a horrible feeling. Quote
Super User Goose52 Posted February 26, 2011 Super User Posted February 26, 2011 As most folks know, I'm a pretty big fan of the value of BPS BC reels...but on rods at the $100 price point, there are MANY options besides BPS - especially if you like or can live with split grips. This is now a VERY competitive price point and it's a tough decision for sure. As always, if you decide on BPS, see if you can wait for the inevitable sale and match it with a $20 off coupon, free shipping, or whatever. No shipping and no tax from TW is something to factor in as well. Good luck and glad you're OK even if the rod is toast ! Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted February 26, 2011 Super User Posted February 26, 2011 Another option is a custom built rod from a sponsor, Delaware Valley Tackle. You could wind up with a rod that fishes better than a comparably priced factory rod. ;D I always thought custom rods were expensive. Mike is building me a 6'6" plastics rod for my daughter at about that price point. Her rod had to be pink. At that price we were able to choose wrap colors and handle type. Naturally you could spend a lot more, and when I order one for myself, it no doubt will cost a bit more. :) Quote
Super User bilgerat Posted February 26, 2011 Super User Posted February 26, 2011 That sucks. My Revo STX has scars from when I fell while on a concrete dock. It is still 100% mechanically and that's OK with me. As was said, you have many choices at that price range for a replacement rod. **it happens. You'll laugh about it someday. Quote
Super User skunked_again Posted February 26, 2011 Super User Posted February 26, 2011 i would take the rod back to BPS and tell them EXACTLY what happened. i did that with a Shimano rod and they warrantied the rod. you never know.. Quote
lynyrdsky1 Posted February 26, 2011 Author Posted February 26, 2011 I came up to bass pro showed them the rod and told them the story and they said it was still insured. They were out of the Carbonlite so i got a Falcon Bucoo Quote
Georgia Jeff Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 did you buy the insurance on it or were they just really nice. Quote
OnthePotomac Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 The other thing that is tough on rods is ceiling fans. They will shorten a rod in a heartbeat. Quote

Pa Angler Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 I own 10 Carbon Lite's best rod running for the money I really like mine even looked at the JM similar and didn't think the JM's were worth the extra money. If you really liked it get another. Tight Lines Pa Angler Quote

The Rooster Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 That's cool that you at least got a rod without having to throw down for one again. Breaking a $100 rod and feeling like it's just a loss has got to suck. Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted February 27, 2011 Super User Posted February 27, 2011 Enjoy your free new rod !!!!!!!!!!! Quote
lynyrdsky1 Posted February 27, 2011 Author Posted February 27, 2011 Used the Bucoo today at the lake. It's a very light rod so, I didn't get that tired flipping and pitching with it. Quote
koulaid Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Like people said. Just bring it in and they will replace no questions asked if it was bought in 2010. Quote
