hookingem Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 Who fishes it on casting gear? And if so what rod action do you prefer? Quote
Fat-G Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 I prefer spinning...and maybe come sringtime I can get a Cumara spinning rod for specifically that technique. Quote
hookingem Posted February 26, 2011 Author Posted February 26, 2011 I for some reason like to throw anything I can on casting gear I'm thinking of picking up a 7'0 med. casting and a 50e. Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted February 26, 2011 Super User Posted February 26, 2011 Anything 1/4 ounce and up I'll use a casting rod unless I'm trying to skip the lure up underneath something. I just can't skip that well with a casting reel. 90% of my casting rods are Fast or Extra Fast. Quote
Fat-G Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 I for some reason like to throw anything I can on casting gear I'm thinking of picking up a 7'0 med. casting and a 50e. Try a Cumara...you won't be sorry. I've heard nothing but good about the 50e. Quote
MNGeorge Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 Loomis MBR 782 with a REVO STX HS...throws a weightless wacky rigged senko a mile and still has enough backbone to handle the good fish. Quote
Super User Gone_Phishin Posted February 26, 2011 Super User Posted February 26, 2011 I use both: Senkos: *St. Croix LEC68MXF/Daiwa Sol Flick Shakes: *Loomis CR721 IMX/Daiwa Pixy *Daiwa Fuego 6'9"ML/Fuego 2500 Quote
central.PA.bass Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 I usually use a 7' MH but I think a 7'0 M Fast would work the best.. Quote
Quitlimpin Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Lami xc724. They don't call it the "senko special" for nothin. Quote
koulaid Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Cumara for sure. Especially the 6'8" model in MH Fast. I have mines with the core100mgfv. Perfect combo. Quote
TBendBassin Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 i use a Falcon Cara T7 Micro Guide Casting Rods 6'10" Heavy with a 50e for my wacky set up Quote
Triton21 Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Vendetta 6'9 MH with Revo STX-HS-L. Anything over 1/32 oz. Kelley Quote
mozy Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 6'8" MXF St. Croix Legend Tournament Bass Pflueger Supreme XT 30 I prefer spinning for this technique and I love this setup. I may try a baitcast out in the future, but I don't know that I would like it any better and I certainly don't have the patience to learn to skip with one. Quote
BigBrotherThunda Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 I throw 5&6 inch senko type baits on a powell 683 with a revo preimier and 12lb fluoro I throw 4 in and light 5's on a cumara 6'8 MH with a chronarch 50mg and 10lb fluoro In really clear water or times when lighter line is called for I use a 6'6 M action spinning rod with 8lb fluoro. A-Rob Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 spinning gear for me fast action or xfast. Quote
WanderLust Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 This year will be G Loomis BCR803 GLX and Shimano Curado 51e. Should be quite effective. Quote
hookingem Posted February 28, 2011 Author Posted February 28, 2011 I'm definitely going with the 50e for the reel but still a wavering a little on the rod... Quote
WanderLust Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Yeah its crazy light on the Loomis... But I did buy a backup rod (Powell 683 CEF). very nice rod for the money. Quote
