Finnz922 Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 I supertuned my TD-X cleaned all parts, soaked bearings in acetone, polished contact points, relubricated bearings and gears making sure not to add more than a drop of oil per bearing and just enough grease to lightly coat the teeth of the gears. Now it's louder and doesn't seem to spin near as long. Has anyone had this happen to them before? Quote
Super User dodgeguy Posted February 27, 2011 Super User Posted February 27, 2011 spinning is related to spool bearings.did you put them on right and install the spool right? Quote
Super User Sam Posted February 27, 2011 Super User Posted February 27, 2011 Grease inside reels. Oil outside reels. Think you may need to use more grease inside the reel? As said above, did you put the parts back correctly? Quote

If I remember right the TD-X has a 2 piece spool shaft and cannot be polished. As far as bearings in the TD-X there are only 2 bearings in the spool support, that actually influence casting (palming plate bearing and spool bearing behind engagement pin). Tight Lines! Quote
Finnz922 Posted February 27, 2011 Author Posted February 27, 2011 has any of you experienced the bearings being more audible? You maybe on to something sam. it sounds like i can hear the teeth meshing which i have never heard before. Quote
