Luke at Gouldsboro Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 1. Is it really tough as they say it is? 2. Is it as clear underwater as fluoro? 3. Would you use this instead of fluoro? Basically, for the same applications you would use fluoro? Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted February 26, 2011 Super User Posted February 26, 2011 1. Who are "they"? It's sufficiently tough 2. No 3. More comparable to mono than flouro. It's a very good all around line Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted February 26, 2011 Super User Posted February 26, 2011 !. Yes 2. I don't know, I never asked a fish if it could see it. But I sure caught a lot on it. 3. Yes, and I do use it instead of flouro. Don't use or need to use flouro. Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted February 26, 2011 Super User Posted February 26, 2011 1. Yes 2. No, but it's really close. 3. Yes. Works just as well as fluoro. It's not quite as sensitive as a 100% fluoro. Again, it's close. Buy it, and see if you like it. It's dirt cheap stuff. I've really become a fan of this line in the last couple of months. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 26, 2011 Super User Posted February 26, 2011 Buy it, and see if you like it. It's dirt cheap. Spinning tackle: #6 Hybrid in green for gin clear water, smoke purple for stained water. You don't need to switch back and forth, either will be just fine, but pick the color for the "predominate" water you fish. Baitcasting gear: Hybrid #12 8-) Quote

Basically, for the same applications you would use fluoro? I ask myself two questions with my fishing line: (a) is it abrasion resistant; and ( how tough/good of knot will it hold. For both of these reasons, you cannot beat yo zuri. If your looking for something inexpensive and without all the headaches that come with some of the more expensive fluoro's, get some Yo-zure. I have yet to meet a fish that told me it didn't like to bite the lure at the end because of the yo-zuri that it was tied too Quote
21farms Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 1. Is it really tough as they say it is? i find yo-zuri hybrid to be extremely tough...kinda along the lines of trilene XT 2. Is it as clear underwater as fluoro? nope 3. Would you use this instead of fluoro? Basically, for the same applications you would use fluoro? not really. i use fluoro when the water is super clear and/or when i need a line that sinks and stays down (e.g., fishing with jerkbaits would be a perfect example: usually a clear water bait and you want the lure to not float back up between jerks). MediumHeavy Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 I also have a question about Hybrid... I know the Ultra soft is optimized for spinning reels, but is it also good on baitcasters? Quote
Super User Hammer 4 Posted February 26, 2011 Super User Posted February 26, 2011 I also have a question about Hybrid... I know the Ultra soft is optimized for spinning reels, but is it also good on baitcasters? Yes, I use ultrasoft on my bc reels, as well as my spinning reels. I have used 8 to 20lb test ultrasoft on bc reels w/o any issues. Quote
Super User CWB Posted February 26, 2011 Super User Posted February 26, 2011 1.Yes 2.Pretty close 3.Yes Quote

I have a spool of Tatsu for my favorite rig but I picked up 600 yard spools of 6,8, 12 and 15 to round out my options. Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted February 27, 2011 Super User Posted February 27, 2011 A couple of other added benefits are that, to me at least, hybrid is much more castable than 100% fluoro. It's also a more versatile line to me. Quote
