I plan on catching some smallies in a muddy river pool this afternoon after school. 8-)

I've done pretty good in muddy water with a clown colored Husky Jerk.  But in stained or clear water I go with the Tenn shad.  I have found that it is most effective in clear water though.

Clear and stained, never had any luck in muddy water.

I've caught a few in dirty water, however, most of my success has been in clear to stained water.

I voted all of the above. Sometimes it's like a top water bait, get caught up in the moment and just d**n well have to throw one :-[...

I fish hard jerkbaits mainly in water with fair to excellent visibility.

Jerkbaits are paused a lot, so in murky water an interested bass

may fall off point. In murky water I would sooner reach

for a rat-l-trap or other noisy plug.

Use a straight retrieve in murky water. The Jackall  Smash Minnow has pretty loud rattles and works well in murky water.

Clear water for me. I have not really tried them in stained water, most all of our water is gin clear in the spring when I fish jerkbaits the most, by the time the water stains up in the summer I have found cranks and spinner baits to produce better for me.
