Fish Chris Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 Hey IowaMatt Seems like I am about the only bass fisherman that likes the 1000 size more than the 2000, 2500, 3000 sizes Yea...... It seems like I'm the only Sturgeon fisherman who prefers the 1000 series spinning reels But hey though, that is a really sweet little reel. You got a great deal on it too. I'd probably choose a Steez, over the Shimanos, just because I always preferred Diawa..... But then again, if I were to ever spend some really big $$$ on a reel, I'd probably just order from Daiwa Japan, so I could have a wide range of choices, in the $400 to $800 range. Fish Quote
Super User islandbass Posted February 19, 2011 Super User Posted February 19, 2011 I don't doubt you but if you could, could you share with us what it is that sets it above the rest? One thing about spinning reels is you seem to get a whole lot of reel for the money, like a symetre for $99 whereas that same $$ gets you entry level gear with baitcasters. The Symetres are sweet to me and so are stradics, and I can only imagine the performance of a Stella. So what makes the Stella stellar IYHO? Thanks! Stella!!!! Stella!!!!! ;D If you really want to know about the reel read this. This is the Stella SW but it will give you an idea. Technical read but it is worth the education. http://www.stripersonline.com/surftalk/showthread.php?t=647666 (I checked the FAQ and don't think it is in violation of the rules to post this link since it is non promotional. Please remove if I am mistaken.) Thanks, MD. That was a great read. Quote

ChrisAW Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 We got two of these in at work, the Stella 4000FE. I didn't really know about the Stella beforehand, and I scanned the UPC to price it and about crapped myself when I seen how much it cost I yelled out some slight profanity at the sheer thought of spending $700 for a spinning reel. But we told the manager of the fishing section to come out back and pick them up, and he took one out to take a look at it. Such a thing of beauty. A slight wind blew through the loading dock, caught the handle and started to turn ;D I don't care if I ever become a millionaire, I'd never spend that kind of money on a reel. But more power to those that do I guess, I just couldn't imagine loosing my grip on that bad boy and watching it sink to the bottom. I'd have to have it tethered to me at all times. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 21, 2011 Super User Posted February 21, 2011 Hmm... $45K or $50K on a truck when $25-$30K would have been just fine? $8,000 on four wheel drive that you use twice a year or never? $2,500 sun roof and you usually keep the lid shut, especially in the summer? $800-$1200 tires that you replace every 2 or 3 years? Nearly every Stella owner will fish that reel the rest of their life. : Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted February 21, 2011 Super User Posted February 21, 2011 I have one spinning reel on my boat. It's a Stella. Awesome reel. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted February 21, 2011 Super User Posted February 21, 2011 Internally, there really is nothing made like a Stella. Quote
