Fat-G Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Wow, I held these yesterday at the Richmond BPS. I am extremely impressed. These rods are seriously light. The actions feel awesome. I held the 7'6 MH up next to a 7'2 MH Cumara, and the Veritas felt lighter. Yes people I just said that. It FELT lighter. I'll end up getting the 7'6 MH for throwing big worms into cover. Time will tell though, I was curious about the sensitivity. Balance even on the big stick was flawless. Anyone use these? Quote
Loomis24 Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 I have the 6'9'' ML MEDIUM FAST spinning version. They are very nice. I am getting the new verdict soon as well, i hear good things about that Quote
s13john Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 i've got the 7.3 paired with a zillion its a sweet set up for big jigs and worms. Quote
SeanW Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 I have seven of em, and 12 Verdicts if I ever order em. Quote
northern basser Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 I picked up a med/ mod fast for cranks. It'll be a few months before I can use it though. I can't wait to see how sensitive it is also. Like you said, everything else about it is sure nice! I'm more than likely going to get a 7'3" verdict to put my new premier 7 to 1 on. Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 I got the 7' M/F spinning version. Be advised, they are a bit more than they are rated. My M feels more like a MH to me. Quote
triglet Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 i bought one at the end of the year last year. used it a couple times. i absolutely love mine and cant wait to fish with it this year. coming from the original ugly sticks. so sensitivity and weight are wonderful to me. Picking up on bites i would have never felt before. only complaint i might even think about having is setting the hook they seem to have a small pop at times. of course im a hard hook setter. trying to break that habit but its hard to break something you been doing for 15 years lol. Im going to be adding several more of these this year. i cant say enough about how impressed ive been with mine! Quote
piscicidal Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 I've got three of them now. If they stay $99, I'll have a bunch more. The best sub-$100 value in bass fishing, IMO. Quote
JPBassin Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 I got the 7' M/F spinning version. Be advised, they are a bit more than they are rated. My M feels more like a MH to me. I would have to agree. All of mine have a tad bit more stiffness than usual, not to much just a tad. I'm beginning to think it has to do with the new NANO Technology. Overall these rods are great, especially for the price! Quote
Fat-G Posted January 19, 2011 Author Posted January 19, 2011 I really want to get a 7' MHF Verdict but I haven't heard much about them. I might be the person that fishes it first and actually writes a review for BR. Part of me says to wait though. I'm just wondering if they're better than the Veritas, especially more sensitive. Quote

I'm just wondering if they're better than the Veritas, especially more sensitive. just purchased a 7' MHF Verdict. I haven't got a chance to fish with it yet, but I can tell you for sure that it is noticeably lighter than the Veritas. The sensitivity is also a bit better, but this was only based on some indoor tests that I did. I am really impressed with this rod, especially for the price, but I am concerned about how the extendable handle will do in the long run. Quote
islandbassmaster Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 prob picking one up tommorow for ma hsta ;D Quote
Vinny Chase Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 I might be getting the 7' 6" MH for deep cranking. Anyone have experience this this rod? Quote
Fat-G Posted January 19, 2011 Author Posted January 19, 2011 I might be getting the 7' 6" MH for deep cranking. Anyone have experience this this rod? Yes, I've held it in the store. It's extremely well-balanced and VERY light. However the Veritas rods are stiff for their ratings, so I doubt it would be a good deep crank rod. Quote
Super User skunked_again Posted January 19, 2011 Super User Posted January 19, 2011 they feel just like the Skeet Reece rods, IMO. Quote
Fat-G Posted January 19, 2011 Author Posted January 19, 2011 they feel just like the Skeet Reece rods, IMO. The Veritas or the Verdict? I really want to place an order on a 7' MHF Verdict but I want to hear what people have to say about them first. The ones I handled at Dick's felt very crisp, as with the Veritas. Quote
KenG85 Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 I have the 7 MHF Verdict. Picked it up for 90 shipped! what a steal. But like you mentioned before its light as air, extremely well balanced, feels perfect with a premier and its a beautiful rod. Quite stiff; i think it will make a perfect jig/spinner/t-rig rod. I own a 66 MHF vendetta and the action is similar, but this rod is lighter with a more comfortable grip. Can't wait to fish it. Now can anyone comment on the 7ft Med/Mod. Veritas! I love these abu rods and would love to complete my collection with a cranking rod. Otherwise i'm going with a 7ft Med/Mod SC Premier. Quote
grimboy Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 I ordered a 7' m veritas spinning rod and a 7'6 mh verdict casting rod, should be in sometime this week, can't wait to try them out this weekend. The fishing should be picking up by the end of the month down here. Quote
hitchhiker Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 At the price that they are being offered and the quality of the components that are on the rods, titanium sics really standing out, it seems that Abu has really hit a homerun. A buddy just got a Veritas/Premier spinning combo and it is very, very nice. Nice crisp action, and super light. Maybe they price the rods so reasonably, so it offsets the cost of the higher end reels that they offer. Which I am a big fan of btw. Quote
KenG85 Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 I agre, the reels are just as sweet. I'm at 2 stx 1 premier and 1 s. My premier needs a nice home on a cranking rod. I'm so impressed with the other rods I want to give the med/mod a shot. Just timid about dropping the cash. If anyone has held that rod, please input. I want to know how soft the rod is as the others run stiff. Quote
Skeet22 Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 I have the 7'6"MH paired with a revo sx and 65#Braid used for 3/8oz and up jigs/tx rigs/c-rigs/frogs Also have a 7'3" MH paired with a revo premier and 17# xps flouro used for 1/4 oz and up tx rigs/jigs I use a 7'3" Vendetta paired with a revo S and braid for punching I absolutley love these set ups. Drug Coder Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 So for those of you that think they're rated less than they really are, is it enough of a difference to order different? Meaning if I wanted a MH rod would you order a M or would you stick with the MH and just know that it's going to be slightly stiffer? Is it a full step stronger than rated? Quote
JigMe Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 So for those of you that think they're rated less than they really are, is it enough of a difference to order different? Meaning if I wanted a MH rod would you order a M or would you stick with the MH and just know that it's going to be slightly stiffer? Is it a full step stronger than rated? I picked up two last week, 7MHF spinning and 7MF casting. Fished the local pond for 2 hours, and the MFH is a bit stiffer then what I am used to. But hey, the rod is very light and paired up w/ Soron STX. I like this compare better than my Shimano, and I am a die hard Shimano fan. Quote
