lsufan334 Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 Hey guys I broke a Abu Veritas rod today setting the hook on a good 5+lb fish in some nasty stuff. Rod broke right at the second eye up from reel. Just broke clean in half. Never had problems with these rods before and it shouldnt have broken. But anyways off to Abu it goes. Has anybody had any experience with them and if so how fast is the turnaround. Tourney season is fixing to start with my club and I could really use that rod. Also does this sound like it will be covered by warranty. Bought the rod new in Nov. from ***. Thanks for any info. Quote

I sent in an 09 SX baitcast reel to them just before Xmas for what I tought were some fixes/updates. I had a brand new, 10 model SX in the mail in about a week. And that was including Xmas! I've read nothing but good things about their customer service. My guess is you'll see a new one arrive at no cost to you. Quote

I had a Vendetta rod I'd bought through them break in almost the same location as you mentioned while setting the hook on a 6# striper. TW replaced the rod for free and even paid for the return shipping. What they did for me was charge me for a new rod and ship it out or free with a RMA for the broken one. I got the rod, used the tube it cam in to send the broken one back with the included return label and once they received the broken rod the charges were reversed for the amount of the replacement. I have 6 of them and used them pretty heavily in some tight situations and they have excelled in performance. Love them dont regret buying them at all. Caught 3 over 4lbs today on KVD 1.5 no probs whatsoever. Quote

The will send you a return shipping label free of charge to send the rod back. Did you keep the original shipping tube? If not you can always ask them to do what they did for me and charge me for the new rod and refund the purchase price once they receive the broken one back. When I did it I had the new rod in 3 days and the charges reversed in 5. I plan on buying one of the Verdict rods soon and you can bet it will be purchased fron TW as well. Quote

I bought mine at BPS in Nov. It's going to Abu Garcia tomorrow. Mine was the Veritas Heavy VRC70-7 . I couldn't tell how big the bass was, never got it out of the grass to tell. Quote
Nixstyx Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 I've been looking at getting a Veritas. Haven't held one yet, but I've been hearing good things. However, I have heard of some breakage problems, which, with a new rod model, makes me a tad nervous. Also concerned with just the one year warranty. Then again, all rods can break, and there are such things as defective individuals. Anyone else having these second thoughts? Or is this rod just as durable as any other comparable rod? Quote
