bassin is addicting Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 i was watching in-fisherman and they showed a knot to connect leader to braid. i didn't catch the name of the knot. i'll try to explain...the best i remember.. loop one end (not sure if leader or braid?) hold it with thumb and forefinger, take other line through the loop and wrap it around 9 times then 9 times back toward loop, take that tag end back through the loop, moisten, gently tighten with tag ends, then fully tighten with connected lines. i'm not sure if i missed a step when starting the 9 wraps back toward the loop? also not sure which line has the loop to start?? anyone know the name of this knot? or is my explanation too confusing?? :-/ seems like he said some kind of "no knot"?? thanks... Shane_in_PCola Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Sounds like a Blood knot maybe? Quote

Super User J Francho Posted February 14, 2011 Super User Posted February 14, 2011 Its titled wrongly. The video clearly depicts an Alberto knot, which is a variation of an albright knot: http://www.animatedknots.com/albright/index.php Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted February 14, 2011 Global Moderator Posted February 14, 2011 The video says to wrap about 5 or 6 times.... 10 to 15 is what I've read here more than once. Mike Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted February 15, 2011 Super User Posted February 15, 2011 Like Francho said, that video is an Alberto also known as a Modified Albright knot. In a traditional albright, you're only wrapping the line around itself towards the hook. With the Alberto you wrap it up the standing line, and then back down towards the hook. Mike L: Experimentation is key. Some people wrap it up to 20 or more times. It all really depends on what you're comfortable with and the thickness of the line being tied. Quote
bassin is addicting Posted February 15, 2011 Author Posted February 15, 2011 Alberto it is... i should have known to trust Fancho and not the title of the video.. thanks for the clarification sofla.. i appreciate your help guys.. it's supposed to be close to 60 here thursday... can't wait!! 8-) Quote
