trevor Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 Isn't that kind of counterintuitive? You have line coming off in large coils, trying to squeeze through little guides. Quote
Super User S Hovanec Posted February 13, 2011 Super User Posted February 13, 2011 The micros are only used as the running guides on spinning rods. You still have 2 or 3 high frame guides to 'tame' the line down to the micros. Quote
Super User bilgerat Posted February 13, 2011 Super User Posted February 13, 2011 I would not want them on a spinning rod. I use braid with a leader and even with the lowest profile leader knot I think casting performance would suffer. Quote

Super User Wayne P. Posted February 13, 2011 Super User Posted February 13, 2011 I have a Ducket spinning rod and use superline with a 20# fluourcarbon leader. It casts just as well as my other spiinning rods with the same line/leader. Quote

Not that I would get one, but the weight is one of the big perks. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted February 14, 2011 Super User Posted February 14, 2011 Well, the lure I am throwing gets to where I am throwing to. Pretting much the same as my other rods. That makes it just as good, it can't get any better. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Micro guides provide the same benefits (weight savings, casting accuracy and possibly distance) on a spinning rod as they do on a baitcast rod. Leader knots always need to be considered, but I find that a well tied Albright between 50lb braid and 17lb mono pass through a size 4 guide with no ill effects and this heavier than most would put on a spinning rig. Super User flechero Posted February 14, 2011 Super User Posted February 14, 2011 Properly choked, you will have no loss of casting distance. Quote
