Super User deep Posted February 12, 2011 Super User Posted February 12, 2011 Went to my local Dick's Sporting Goods to see if they had any Sufix Siege in 17#. No luck. Instead of going to the Walmart to pick up some Sufix Elite, on a whim I decided to try some Ande mono. Never seen these in my Dick's before. So I picked up a 1/4 lb spool of Ande 20lb test in green. They had pink, green and clear. The funny thing is the 1/4 lb spool of green had 650 yds, and the 1/4 lb spool of clear had 600 yds? The clear line also seemed to be stiffer. I didn't check the pink though. The stuff is pricey, too. I paid $23. That's more expensive than Sufix! Quote
SDoolittle Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 I've use Ande line one time in my life, but it just happened to be the day I caught my biggest fish. 30# Ande line landed me an 89# spoonbill (paddlefish) when I was 22 years old. I only fish freshwater, so I'm sure I'll never break that personal record. Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted February 12, 2011 Super User Posted February 12, 2011 I used to fish Ande exclusively when my father and I would go record chasing in saltwater. It breaks right where it's rated at. Good line. With all the newer monos and co-polys, Ande has fallen to the wayside. You can get much more strength in a smaller diameter using other lines. Ande is still the standard used by the IGFA though. If you're chasing a line class record, it's Ande or nothing for me. Quote
