Well my dad is looking for a new combo that he can use for fresh AND salt water. He's looking for about a 7'6" MH or H rod, and a reel with good capacity for saltwater. It has to stand up to saltwater abuse though.

He's looking to spend around $80. I told him he might have to get casting gear though, because its rare to find a spinning rod in MH or H, that's relatively cheap.

Any Suggestions?

EDIT: My dad would be relatively new to casting reels, if he did in fact go with one.

$80 for the whole combo?

Precisely.

What species are you guys hunting in the salt. Most MH spinning rods6'6 will handle inshore species. If he has a medium freshwater setup it will handle what he wants, just require more maintenance. A lot of guys I used to fish with around the OBX would use cheap diawa combos and replace them yearly.
