Super User BASSclary Posted February 9, 2011 Super User Posted February 9, 2011 Well my dad is looking for a new combo that he can use for fresh AND salt water. He's looking for about a 7'6" MH or H rod, and a reel with good capacity for saltwater. It has to stand up to saltwater abuse though. He's looking to spend around $80. I told him he might have to get casting gear though, because its rare to find a spinning rod in MH or H, that's relatively cheap. Any Suggestions? EDIT: My dad would be relatively new to casting reels, if he did in fact go with one. Quote
Super User BASSclary Posted February 9, 2011 Author Super User Posted February 9, 2011 $80 for the whole combo? Precisely. Quote
B-Dozer Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 Keep an eye on the flea market section. lots of good deals there. $80 isn't much though Quote
central.PA.bass Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 gonna be tough to find any combo for that price.. Quote
jeremyt Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 What species are you guys hunting in the salt. Most MH spinning rods6'6 will handle inshore species. If he has a medium freshwater setup it will handle what he wants, just require more maintenance. A lot of guys I used to fish with around the OBX would use cheap diawa combos and replace them yearly.
