jdw174 Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Well, it outlasted every other knot that got thrown at it. It's surprising to me since there's only one loop of line through the hook eye compared to two on several others. Has anyone here ever tried using this knot? Seems simple enough to tie..... Quote
Jon H Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 I saw that episode of Knot Wars too. I also thought it was interesting that the line was passed through the hook eye only once, yet it defeated the competition. There is no reason not to pass it around the hook eye twice in tying it oneself, right? I intend to try this knot myself. Ever since I was a teenager I have stuck with the bowline knot for mono, but this knot has to be tied twice in succession for braid, or it will slip. The bowline is a very strong knot, and a pain to tie with light line in a high wind or in the rain, but I trust it. The reason I adopted this knot many years ago was that it was said to produce 100% of line strength and that was good enough for me. Quote
