andamtoft Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 I have a few rods that I just don't use anymore. They probably wouldn't be worth selling because of the cost of shipping. I don't want to just throw them out. But they have to go, I just don't have the room for them right now. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do with them? Thanks Quote
Red Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 Maybe you could donate them to a local Cub/Boy Scout pack or other organization that takes kids fishing. Quote

The Rooster Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 There are also deployed soldiers that have the occasional opportunity to fish. You could send them to them. I don't know exactly how to tell you to do that but I know they do take donations of fishing tackle. Quote
chasiubao73 Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 I donate my older gear that's not worth selling to my local state park office. They hold teaching seminars on the fundamentals of fishing to kids. Quote
Nick Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 Post on Craig's List Free and be vigilant who you give them to. OR hould be a local Boy Scout post in your area as well. Bet they would pick up at your home. Contact nearest elementary school in your area. Scouts often meet there. Quote
Whets Lines Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 Near me, the YMCA has summer camps for kids and they do take them fishing. You could contact a local YMCA. Whets 8-) Quote
Super User bassfisherjk Posted February 6, 2011 Super User Posted February 6, 2011 I agree with Red. Quote
Super User webertime Posted February 6, 2011 Super User Posted February 6, 2011 I give them to my neighbor's or cousins kids. If the kid get's into it AWESOME, if fishing isn't for them hopefully my gesture made an impression. Quote
Pa Angler Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 Sell them on Ebay or this forum's flea market. Tight Lines Pa Angler Quote
BassThumb Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 I either try to sell the stuff if it's worth selling, or give it away to friends or their kids. Quote
NJBasstard Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 Maybe you could donate them to a local Cub/Boy Scout pack or other organization that takes kids fishing. This. ;D Quote
