Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted January 30, 2011 Super User Posted January 30, 2011 I am looking for a short casting rod, under 6'6", what most people would consider either a stout medium or weak MH, and a fast to moderate fast tip. Quote
uicdent11 Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 St. Croix Avid 6'3 Med. X Fast comes to mind. It might have a faster action tip, but is not stiff like other X Fast actions. I'd call it a "mod/fast tip" that loads up real quick. I also think Shimano makes a 6'3 Med. Fast action Crucial. Looking for a good jerkbait rod are ya? Quote
hitchhiker Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 You could have one made for you or make it yourself. You could buy a blank and cut it to whatever length/action that you prefer. If you diy, the cost is not much more than a production rod. Just a thought. Quote
Triton21 Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 All Star and G Loomis both used to make a 6' one. I don't know if they are still available. Do a search on Ebay. Kelley Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted January 30, 2011 Author Super User Posted January 30, 2011 Looking for a good jerkbait rod are ya? Yep. Looking for a close quarters jerkbait/topwater rod. I used to have an old All Star (the grey ones) that I believe was dubbed as a "Spinnerbait" rod. It was EXACTLY the power and action I am looking for except it was 6'9". As a couple have mentioned, I might just have to get one made. Quote
R520dvx Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 Loomis has a 5 1/2 foot MH in the Mossyback serires. I have one and love it for real close quarters precision work. Quote
Super User 5bass Posted January 30, 2011 Super User Posted January 30, 2011 Look around for an All Star BCM6. It's 6' medium. It's an older All Star model but will be exactly what you're looking for and you can probably get it cheap if you find one. Quote
Super User Goose52 Posted January 30, 2011 Super User Posted January 30, 2011 In addition to the rods already mentioned, All Star still has a 6' and 6'4" MH. St. Croix Premier 6' MH. Team Daiwa-S Bass 6'3" MH. Shimano Compre 6" MH. Falcon LowRider 6' MH. Probably others. You'd have to read-up to check the tips on these and I can't say whether these MH rods are "light" MH. The 6'4" All Star and the 6'3" Daiwa might be good candidates. Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted January 30, 2011 Super User Posted January 30, 2011 Steez makes a 6'3. Rod weighs nothing and it makes surgery precise casts. Quote
0119 Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 Ive been looking for that rod too, for skipping under docks for snook. Pairing it with a CI4 4000. I think I found it in a Temple Fork Outfitters MH. They come 6'6" and 6'. Construction looks ok, basic but it has TFO's warranty which has been very good to me fly gear wise. Quote
Fat-G Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 I have a 6' MHF rod I"ll give to you if you pay shipping. It would be a great jerkbait rod. Quote
SDoolittle Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 Thses guys will build you just about anything you want at a very reasonable price. http://www.imaginationbassin.com/gblanks.htm Quote
Georgia Jeff Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 BPS is clearing out there Johnny Morris Extreme rods. They make a 6'3 M with a fast tip rod with recoil guides. This is an awesome rod. They retailed for $199 but can be found on clearance for a little over $100 if you can find one. Great rod. Quote
