I love mine.

WOW - that's a GREAT price on a fine reel. I ALMOST pulled the trigger on an on-line order, then I grabbed the bait monkey by the throat and choked him out - I just don't need any more spinning reels right now... ;D

THANKS Webertime

I printed the BPS page for this reel, braved the blizzard we are having, took it with me to Gander Mountain on the other side of town. They did have them and yes they MATCHED THE PRICE

They had a St Croix Premier 6'6"MH F rod like the one I bought at DICK'S for $24 so I got to pair them to get a good feel for the combo. The 30 size seems the better match for the MH rod so that is what I got. So in all a $250 combo for $93 not bad. ;D

Hey Quake - you reel spinners right handed ? I've never seen that.

BTW, nice reel. I got the 25 size last August from Cabela's for the same price. You know it's got a carbon drag don't you ?

I did that when I got my first spinning reel. I started out with spincasters and baitcasters, so the reeling with the left hand was a bit weird to me.

My B-I-L would borrow my spinning combo and return it with the handle on the left, so one day I just decided to leave it that way. If it wasn't for him, I'd still be cranking my spinning reels with my right hand. ;D

< Take a good look at the reel in my avatar.

That's a great deal- if I wasn't insolvent at the moment I'd buy 3.

On another note - who doesn't reel with their right hand? ;D

Im left-handed always throw with left, reel with right on all reels.

About the drag- No didnt take notice of drag type nor am I all that knowledgeable of types. I just did a quick search and a carbon drag seems to be beneficial, yes/no?

I have a Shimano Stradic FI 1000 will get to see how this XT compares to it I guess.

I didnt do much research on this reel just saw the deal and I needed a new one so took a chance. I do read a lot of good reviews about Pflueger spinning reels.

Oh and Pflueger has a long sleeve shirt offer as well so will be getting one of those.

I believe the 2500 Shimanos typically fall somewhere between the 30 and 35 series Pfluegers. It really depends which model you're looking at.

If you go with the Supreme, they're light enough to go with the larger 35 series. If you're talking about the President and below, opt for the 30.

what size pflueger is about the same size as a shimano 2500??

The 30xt I got weighs the same as my Stradic1000 but the 30xt is noticeably bigger physically

To me the 35xt seemed too big plus its like 1.4oz heavier

I do it too, reel with the same hand spinning and casting.  Nice reel, Quake.  Now, have it painted.

Well, forget what I said in post #2 - the bait monkey won and I ordered two of the "30" size reels this morning... ;)

Glad to help! My 30 matches up very nicely with a Lamiglas Excel 703, spooled with 6lb Yo Zuri and 10lb PP.  Finesse and Rivers are covered very nicely with this set up.

Yep - I just happen to have a whopping 8,000 yards of 6lb YZ Ultra-Soft on hand... ;)
