I know everyone has their favorite brands. Between these 2 brands which one is preferred in a Baitcaster and why?

I dont know about the latest ones but my main bass baitcaster is a 2003 Pinnacle Deadbolt Classic. This has been a great reel for me since day one very smooth to this day with just basic cleaning. I throw 1/8th oz jigs with it just fine. This past summer tossing frogs landed my PB never a worry about this thing.

My heart sank though when I forgot and left it and pole on top off my car and drove-off :'( Going about 45mph heard a scrapping sound on roof of car looked back and saw my reel sliding on the road ooohhhhh!!!into the curb. Large scrape/scratch mark but the reel still works fine.

Ive been wanting to get a new one but now cant find any locals that sell Pinnacle to get hands-on.

I'd have to say pinnacle. I have 2 of them 1 still working (solene) and the other would work had i not used some parts for another reel. The solene has been a trooper of a reel. I have misused, abused, and just been down right mean to this reel and it keeps on going. I actually fell 1 time of a stump into some mud while fishing, and the rod and reel (the solene) were completely ( and i do mean completely) covered in mud. I took the reel and knocked the mud off and kept on fishing. I still haven't taken anything apart and properly cleaned it and that was 6 months ago, yet it still casts just as far and reels in smoothly.

I'd go with Pinnacle. But only the six-pin braking models, but that's just a matter of preference for me. The Scion rivals any other magnesium reel and is usually a bit less expensive. I don't own a Scion but have handled one and they are sweeeeeet! Pinnacle makes reels for other companies as well. The Academy H20 Xpress reels I know, I think the older BPS PQ and Extreme reels were made by them also. The H20 Xpress Mettle reels are great reels at $50 a pop and once a year they run them half price, even better. I have three and fish them regularly.

Yes sir......I'd say Pinnacle.

I have an Avenger by Okuma. I use it for beach and jetty fishing when I don't wanna risk an expensive reel. It has served me faithfully so far! And it was only $40, so its not a big bummer if it develops problems. Very simple to clean and maintain, except that it uses oval gears, which need precise alignment.

Since both of these reel makes don't have that many adherents, this is going to be tough to get comparisons.

Never fished a Pinnacle, but I'd put my Okuma Cayenne against every Shimano I've owned (about a dozen).  This is the first season with it, so I have to see if it lasts several years. Light and smooth with a very free spool,

I don't have any Pinnacle reels but I do have an Okuma Serrano that I really like. It will cast as good or better than any reel I own,(including a Fuego) and it's probably the most "palmable" reel I've used. After doing bit of searching, I'm betting Okuma's are made by Pinnacle/Silstar. Check out the picture of the Okuma Cayenne then look at the Pinnacle Matrix at the bottom.
