Triton21 Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 You can get a Revo Premier for under $200 on fleabay. That's the way I'd go, too. Just like the STX, only 2 ounces lighter. I have an SX and 4 of the Premier's, all the latest versions. Nothing wrong with the SX, but it is a bit over priced compared to stepping up to an STX, at least at MSRP. But when you consider you can get new Premier's for under $200 online, it's a no brainer. A caution on the Revo's, though. Make sure when you're looking at them, any of them, that you're getting the latest models. Some of the 09 models were not nearly as well received. The newer stuff, from '10 on, are almost universally praised. I have 5 '09 Revo STX and never had a problem. I fish them hard. Just had them cleaned and tuned by Deleware Valley Tackle and they reported that they were in fine shape. Kelley Quote

WdyCrankbait Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 curado 50 or 51 That is an outstanding reel! I have a Revo Premier (2009 model to be fair) and a year old Curado E5. It is going to be personal preference. My Revo casts a tick further, but something about the Curado I just have more faith in that reel. See if you can take that new rod to your local fishing store and see what reel you like better. Also, I did a quick search and it looks like the Curado is lighter then the Revo STX. That will make long days of fishing easier with a lighter reel. Quote

BassThumb Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 Shimano Curado E-Series or Abu Revo STX. Quote
northern basser Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 Shimano Curado E-Series or Abu Revo STX. either of these 2 would be great or a pflueger patriarch xt( can be had on e-bay for under $200). The xt and the stx have dual breaking. I used to own a sx and it was a good reel, but the mag. braking alone was hard to get used to for me. I was used to chucking shimanos centrifugal systems. e7, stx, or xt would be my choices. They are all very good reels. Quote
islandbassmaster Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 curado, stx or hsta supertuned all great reels Quote
