I am looking to purchase an affordable crankbait rod and I am thinking about purchasing the Mojo.  Does anyone have this rod?  What do you think of it?  What reel did you purchase with it?  Other crankbait rod suggestions?  Any help would be appreciated.

i dont like mine because of the balance - very tip heavy.

what size cranks will you be tossing?

Hi had the Mojo two seasons ago. I thought for the price that it was great for what I needed to use it for. If you are hoping to go with crankbaits which dive down past, say, 10 feet, you are going to get a workout. You'll want something longer for that.

As far as being tip heavy, I didn't find this to be an issue with my type of fishing style. I thought it was a bit tip heavy, but not to the point of being bothersome. I mean, I keep the tip down to get the bait down in the zone quickly.

I paired mine with a Revo Winch. It casted everything I used without complaint. After a season of fishing, I traded up to an Avid crankbait rod. I have not looked back since. So if you don't like it, do like I did and take advantage of St. Croix's trade up program. Even if you do like it, I still recommend trading up. St. Croix has great products backed by great people.

Whets

How does the ST Croix trade up plan work?

Go to their web site, and click Service and Warranty.  :)

that's what happens when you take weight off the wrong end.

youre probably right. i have sold all my Mojos but one which is the 7' plastics and its now living life as a heavy lipless crankbait rod. oddly i like the heavier feel when running 3/4 oz cranks.

on a side note i will add i never broke a Mojo rod, and there were a lot of chances to do so.

back to the OP's question if it were my money id get the Shimano Compre CPC-C70MHB.

rated at 3/8 oz to 1 oz it should cover everything you want to throw.
