Fishohio Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Narrowed it down to these three rods for a pitchin rod. There all around the same price point. 7'6 mh or h ain't sure yet Can anyone comment on any of them? Quote
Super User Gatorbassman Posted January 19, 2011 Super User Posted January 19, 2011 I absolutly love my Dobyns Pitching Rod. It's a 764C. It's light and in pitches and flipps like a dream. I don't own any Savvy Rods though but I hear they are great to. Quote
SeanW Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 I find the new Powell Endurance 775 to be a great rod. Its also very versatile as you can use it for a ton of other techniques. Quote
Super User David P Posted January 19, 2011 Super User Posted January 19, 2011 What type of baits, weights, and cover are you planning to fish with this rod? I fish Dobyns rods exclusively, and really like them. I can't really suggest a specific rod though without hearing exactly what you're going to be using the rod for. I pitch baits from 1/4oz in no cover, up to 1 1/2oz in extremely heavy cover, and everything in between. Quote
Fishohio Posted January 19, 2011 Author Posted January 19, 2011 Mostly a 5/16 to 1/2 oz. t-rig in light to moderate cover.Laydowns, overhangs, little brush. 15# Pro line.Nothin to heavy maybe some pads later in the year. We don't get too much heavy stuff in Ohio unless it's wood. Quote
Fishohio Posted January 20, 2011 Author Posted January 20, 2011 Noone uses any of these rods??? Quote
central.PA.bass Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 I would go with the Powell.. but that is just personal preference.. Quote

I personally use the 765 but I fish probably slightly heavier cover and fish 1/2oz almost exclusively on that rod. Quote
flipin4bass Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 I have both Powell and Dobyns rods and I like them both. IMO,the Dobyns is a better looking rod with better components, if that's important to you. I refer to my Powells as my "battle rods" because they are looking a little rough (mainly the cork) from all the bass they've hauled in. ;D Quote
vapredhunter Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 I like my Castaways I have 13 of them nice rods. Quote
Under the Radar Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Powell 704C or 733... X2 on the Powell 704C I find the 733 more suited for lipless & shallow cranks. The 734 is my worm rod, Nick Quote
Dan-K Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 735 savvy is a VERY versatile rod. Sensitive, balanced and looks great. Also backed by a lifetime warranty and no hassle $60 replacement. You will not regret buying this rod. Quote
BassThumb Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 Try the Dobyns Champion 735C, a very versatile rod. I'm very happy with them for pitching, general jig fishing, and frogs. Quote
