islandbassmaster Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 Hey yall, Just bought my third bait-caster which is a Tierra but it wasn't a easy descision as i was also eying the citica/revo s/ and even the Cardiff mainly for cranking/slash baits......did i make the wrong choice? Any input is appreciated Thanks Al Quote
trevor Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 I have the Coastal. Its just a Tierra that has been treated for corrosion resistance. I love it! Has very strong gearing, as I use it often for catching big Tautog out of rocks. Casts great. Never given me any problems. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted January 13, 2011 Super User Posted January 13, 2011 Hey yall,Just bought my third bait-caster which is a Tierra but it wasn't a easy descision as i was also eying the citica/revo s/ and even the Cardiff mainly for cranking/slash baits......did i make the wrong choice? Any input is appreciated Thanks Al I have a couple Revo S's, and Citica's, I also HAD...............note the word HAD, a Tierra. I didn't care for it. Quote
Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted January 13, 2011 Super User Posted January 13, 2011 I had 2 of the Revo Ss, didn't like them....felt stiff and grindy, casted terrible, and just didn't feel good at all. I have a Citica and like it. never fished a Tierra. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 There is no right or wrong choice just personal preference. You've got a new reel, feel good about it. Fish it, and if you're dissatisfied with the performance, try another brand or model next time. Quote
Ima Bass Ninja Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 Put simply.....No you did not make the wrong choice. You compared reels and bought the one that you liked the best. that can never be a wrong decision. Now if the product lets you down then try something else like DVT said. On a side note i own 3 of the Tierra rods and they have been outstanding performers for me. Quote
Fat-G Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 Well, since you mentioned cranking, I would have gone with the Citica as it has a light spool which makes casting light lures easier. I have fished a Tierra and it just felt clunky to me. Quote
ChiCityBasser Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 I don't think you made a bad or wrong choice at all. It's a matter of personal preference and if it doesn't work well for you either list it on ebay or add it to the flea market. I have never fished any of the reels you mentioned but fish quantum and daiwa and we know how the board feels about quantum. Enjoy the reel... Quote
islandbassmaster Posted January 14, 2011 Author Posted January 14, 2011 thanks for the input yall...guess ill just keep it and if I don't like it when april comes around tuff ...being clunky or bulky doesnt bother me as im not exactly small ...ohh ya as far as lite baits go i have the curado e7 even though i wouldn't be cranking with this reel much i can if needed. Thanks for input guys! Now I feel a little more at ease Quote
Stasher1 Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 I'll choose a reel with centrifugal brakes over magnetic any day of the week, but the one and only Citica I owned (200E) was a dud right out of the box and the Revo S never impressed me enough to own one. It may not be the most popular reel, but I think I'd take a Pflueger Asaro over any of the reels mentioned so far. Quote
islandbassmaster Posted January 19, 2011 Author Posted January 19, 2011 well ended up returning for its big brother the HSTA :0 i know for a fact this reel is better than my other choices IMO now i just need to pair it with a good M Rod. Thinking a Abu Veritas. Quote

islandbassmaster Posted January 20, 2011 Author Posted January 20, 2011 ya dude! tackle tour gave this bad boy a 9.0 and editors choice so basically best bang for ur buck beat revos and citicas reviews ....even though its like 25 more bucks its well worth it Quote
Blue Streak Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 I had 2 of the Revo Ss, didn't like them....felt stiff and grindy, casted terrible, and just didn't feel good at all. I have a Citica and like it. never fished a Tierra. You know it is all about personal choice. I had a Citica that I was very disapointed with, did not think it was in the same class as the Revo S reels that I own. It felt like a grinder and did not cast near as well as the Revo's. Quote
