Does anybody have a braided line that they think is better for spinning tackle than others? Also, I would like to have use 30lb line if possible...is that too much for a 2500 size reel?

I 'm not a big fan of braided, but I do have a few reels with braided, Power Pro. 30 too much for a 2500 size reel ? nope, it 's not too much. 30 lbs braided is quite thin.

For the past few years I've used 20/6 Power Pro on some of my spinning reels.  Never used the 30lb so can't/won't comment on that.

In the past, I have tried and rejected Fireline and Fireline Braid and Spidercast.

This year I am trying Samurai Braid to see if it makes any difference.  Might also try the Sufix 832.

Sufix braid is my choice right now but am going to try the 832 and the fireline braid this coming year and no 30#braid is not too much for a 2500 reel.

I use PowerPro 20/6 on spinning reels. 30# should not be a problem at all.

The only braid I use is Sufix Performance Braid. It's hard to beat for the price and I prefer it over PowerPro. Haven't tired the new Sufix 832 but it seems to be getting great reviews.

Usually use 30lb test on all of my setups. I believe anything 30lb+ with Sufix actually has 8 fibers vs. 4 in PP or lower lb tests. Using it on two 2500 sized spinning reels at the moment with zero issues. In fact at this point I almost hate to use anything EXCEPT braid on spinning reels, even mono is a hassle after using braid for a while.

I only use braid and only spinning gear, imo it makes little difference brand to brand, have used quite a few.  I mainly use PP, due to the convenience factor and that's what my local tackle shop stocks in bulk when I opt to have them respool for me.  I cast about 99% of the time.

10 or 15# for freshwater, handles any fish or conditions I run into. 15 or 20# for saltwater, again handles fish well over 50 pounds, line does not break.

Best not to overfill the spool, less windknots for sure.  Don't think line twist is a thing of the past with braid, I get them when trolling spoons ( yes I use swivels on my spoons as well as to the leader).  Braid does not troll out quite as well as mono does.

For me there is no point in spending more money to get the same result.

Any reason you prefer the Fireline braid as opposed to the Fused Fireline, which is optimized for spinning reels?

fused frays and comes apart.braid lasts longer.braid is easier to get tangles out of.my wife prefers fused.

for the life of me i can't understand why anyone would use outdated powerpro when there are lines like sufix 832,diawa samurai and fireline braid out there.

I've got like 2000 yards of 20, 50, and 65 still. I'm not chucking out what works perfectly well. I have 50# Tracer on a jig rod. Its quiet, but that's about all I see. I do like the visibility of it.

Fused?  I used to use 14# Crystal on a spinning rig for casting spoons for trout and salmon.  That line held up very well, as long as there was no abrasion.  The only reason I switched back to copoly for this was freezing temps.  Superlines + freezing = bad time.

Sufix performance braid has worked for me much better than Power Pro.  I just spooled a spinner with the new Sufix 832 but havent had a chance to try it yet. Reminds me some of original Fireline due to its stiffness but that'll change once its used.  It seems smoother than most braids with a noticibly tighter weave.  Original Fireline is great in windy conditions, alot less tangling with the tip due to its stiffness.

Because it works, is readily available in the color I like (yellow), and some of us still have several spools to go though before we can even think of switching brands...and as long as PP lasts, that'll be a LONG time.

Since I primarily use PP I'll comment only on that line.  Outdated or not, it works well, holds a good knot, casts beautifully and has excellent strength.  I routinely fish over rocks and coral for inshore fishing, with no more or less incident than any other braided line.  I use 20#PP offshore for kingfish, dolphin, bonita and sailfish, perhaps if were catching NY bass I may need a better line like Berkley, but PP serves me quite well for the dinks I catch.  PP works well for my Florida bass too !

For the life of me I can't understand why anyone would winch up a 5# fish with 50# braid, for me lighter line and tackle is much more fun.
