trevor Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 I have a Daiwa Regal XIA (not the new model). When I reel it, it will make a clicking noise when the spool is in the highest position and in the lowest position. Is this fixable or just poor quality? Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 I believe that reel retails for around $60. A cleaning/lube/inspection is $16.20 for forum members. Parts and shipping additional. Anything worn or broken can be replaced as part of the service if necessary. Let me know if I can help. Mike Quote

I actually service all my own reels. But for that price I will definitely consider any more expensive reels I own if they ever need repaired. Quote
Stasher1 Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 Probably a silly question, but do you have line on the reel? If you do, and use the little plastic line holder on the spool, sometimes the tag end of the line will hit the rotor or bail when it rotates, causing a clicking sound. FWIW, the Regal is a pretty nice reel for the money. I've had a little 1000 on my UL rod for a few years now with no complaints at all. I think I paid about $27 for it, on clearance at Sports Authority. Quote

If you look into it and need a hand give a shout. Mike Quote
trevor Posted January 18, 2011 Author Posted January 18, 2011 Tore it down this afternoon to do a thorough cleaning and see if that would help. I found that the screw securing the oscillating slider to the main shaft was loose, so after I had disassembled and thouroughly cleaned it, I tightened it down solid. Now there's no clicking sound.
