MonarkMcfaster Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 Your tournament fishing. You can only carry 5 rods, what would you chose? Not really looking for brands but say something like this to cover the technique. 7' MH fast with a 7:1 reel for flipping Quote

piscicidal Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 If only had five to use (South Florida): 7' MH/F, 6.3:1 baitcast (worms, beavers, traps) 7'6" MH/F, 7.0:1 baitcast (frogs, jigs) 7'6" MH/F, 5.4:1 baitcast (plastic swimbait) 7'6" H/F, 7.0:1 baitcast (flip) 7' M/XF, spinning (finesse) In actuality I have one dedicated rod for worms, beavers, and traps. Although not totally optimal, I could use the same set up for all three if I had to. I think the five would vary alot by locale, also. Quote

If I'm the co-angler I first find out what technique the boater likes to use and/or what he has caught fish on in pre-fish. Then based on what techniques I might face I decide what rods/reels. Quote
