MNGeorge Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Been looking at the SX Supercaster Series spinning reels from US Reels, particularly the SX 230 and SX 240 Supercasters. If you have either of these reels and don't mind sharing your thoughts on it, I'd appreciate reading them. Thanks. Quote
northern basser Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 I personally have not used them, but I looked into them at one time and read on another forum that there was some durability issues. Quote
walleyejgr Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 take a look at the Pflueger Arbors 7430 or at the Lew's TSS-1000 .I have 2 of the Arbor's and they are just plane out solid work horse reels, smooth, supreme drag system, lite and cast awesome and the line management is fantastic. The Lew's large arbor reels are a close second. The U.S reels have gearing and bearing issues. That's why I own 2 Arbors. Quote
flippin and pitchin Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 I bought one last summer new for 39.00 at the urging of my buddy who owns three. He is soon to own four. It's just okay. I much prefer the more standard diameter spool reels. I would use it for crappie fishing if I keep it. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted January 18, 2011 Super User Posted January 18, 2011 One of my beach mates, Poonman, uses a US reel, I forget which model, have seen the reel in action scores of times. No issues at all and his reel is strictly used for snook, tarpon and jacks, reel is not used in freshwater. Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted January 18, 2011 Super User Posted January 18, 2011 I've got a few of them and I like them. I like how the wide spool handles braid real well. Mine are only a couple of years old, so I haven't experienced any drag or bearing issues. Quote
aceman387 Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 I own three of the supercaster spinning reels and they are my go to reels.I have never had a problem with any of them and have had them for years. Quote
