SeanW Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 Well Sean, you might find you like the profile and action of the Rage Tail line. I have been a GYCB fan for more than a decade and use a vaiety of other soft plastics. I find the Rage Tails have some unique charteristics. You might be surprised. Back on topic, I just bought a BCR893 which will be used exclusively for soft plastics. I haven't selected the reel, but I plan to rotate a few until I find the perfect match! 8-) To be perfectly honest, I do like the look of the bait. I do own some(not many though). What it comes down to is having to much variety and then I dont use something, or cant find it when I want it. The GYCB stuff is not going anywhere, I own a several year supply cause it flat out works great. It just comes down to confidence. Once I start punching, it over. They are to bulky for my taste as far as punching. But since you insist Ill buy one more color(I have blk/blue flake) and give it a try. Say something closer to green pumpkin. But, I have a hard time putting down the brush hog, but Ill rig one rod with it. Quote
SeanW Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 Just a recommendation on the rod, and not specific. But if you have a H action seems a MH might be a good choice. I also suggest sticking with one maybe 2 brands of rods. Just feels more natural if your using one brand. I used to fish 5-6 brands, sometimes all out on the deck. Makes it more difficult to become one with the rod. Just my opinion. Hey we agree on something..................sound an alarm I might need to change my opinion then. ;)jk Quote

Simp Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 Well I'm not going to tell you buy this or that rod. I'm just going to say make sure you like the reel seat it's going to have and make sure your happy with the warranty. Pond fishing especially if your going to use braid is HARD on a rod! Quote

I've settled on the Avid AVC70MHF. I think it'll be a great rod for the techniques I mentioned. Love me some braid. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted January 15, 2011 Super User Posted January 15, 2011 I use that rod for heavier cover, and 1/2 oz. weights. For lighter stuff, I use a LTBC70MF. Both sensitive sticks. Quote

Nice, I'll be doing a lot of pitching with it. The Avid's are really stout for their ratings! I held a couple at BPS today. But the rod that really caught my eye was the Veritas, that thing was unbelieably light. I really want to get the 7'6 MH eventually for big plastics. Quote
