lynyrdsky1 Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 Getting this reel for a good deal from someone on here, Just wondering what I should pair with it? Only really want to spend 80 or less on a rod but I don't know what length and action yet. I was thinking getting a 6'10 MH for spinnerbaits and using my 7' MH carbonlite for jigs and texas rig but not sure yet. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted January 13, 2011 Super User Posted January 13, 2011 Simmons sporting goods on e-bay has Kistler Mag TS rods on sale for $68, get the 6'9" MH "all purpose special". I have a citica mounted on one, great set up. It will fish spinnerbaits, topwaters, shallow and lipless cranks, buzzbaits, and jig/t-rigs in moderate cover great. Quote

I have the same combo and it's really versatile and comfy. If they sell out of that rod b4 you can get one look at a Lamiglas Excel at TW (705 model) or another Carbonlite from BPS during the February "Classic" Sales. Quote

Delaware Valley Tackle Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 If you're unsure of action and power and don't have a specific application, I suggest a 7' MH/F as the most versatile for bass fishing. Quote
BigMoneyGrip Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 One of my Citicas is mounted on a MOJO Topwater rod. This combo seems to do alot of things well. Quote
OHIO Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 I would say the best rod for under $80 is the Abu Garcia Vendetta. I have a couple and I use one for spinnerbaits. It works great. Quote
Texasfishingtips Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 I use mine on a SR senko/toad rod and is my main worm rod. Clancy W Quote
