Rattles with Jigs, Yes? No? Maybe?

I have a few jigs, that came with rattles, im debating whether taking them off or not, as some are removable. So I just wanted to get everyones opinion on how they feel about rattles on their jigs.

I was thinking in low light conditions, such as night time, and extremely muddy water, so I voted sometimes. Other than that I probably wouldn't use a rattle. But maybe my view will change after the results from this poll.

Sometimes,and this includes soft plastics too.

Heavy cover/grass use one

Low light and or poor water quality use one

Clear water sometimes dont use it.

If I have been beating up the fish with a rattle in my bait lately,I take it out,and maybe even downsize.

Clear or heavily pressured lakes are the places I don't use rattles.

Unless I'm fishing very murky water I prefer a stealth jig.

I've a jar full of rattle chambers I removed from various jigs.

Caveat: Some rattle boxes are cumbersome, change the fall rate and crowd the plastic trailer.

They say when a crawfish moves around in the water its joints make a clicking sound.  A rattle imitates this so I always use the rattle.  I have yet to catch a fish w/out one.

I have to go with sometimes as well.  Like everybody else, it depends on the water conditions.  It also depends on how hard I want to work a jig.  If I work it slow, no rattles, and if I want to swim, jerk or bounce it, I might want to have a rattle.

i voted yes

a high frequency ticking is great for me, but obnoxious clacking is not good.

the lakes i fish just a small amount of noise is all you need for fish to locate the bait cuz the water is heavily stained.

I voted sometimes. Delicate presentation=no rattles. If I am swimming them through the stumps and sticks trying to get a reaction strike, why not?

Clear water = no rattles....so my vote is sometimes

wow really ... i fish in wisconsin we have crystal clear to gin clear waters here ... i always use rattles ,,, never seened to make any difference at all .... i always seem to do good with jigs .... :-?

I never use a rattle I personally can't stand them! Especially the older models when the rattles got in the way of the hooks and were gaudy. I think almost every jig being fished out there has a rattle so seperate yourself a little.

A rattle in a jig to me is like the pro's saying they squirt fish scent on the jig every other cast...pointless you might catch one fish extra a day, but the same could be said for not using one to?

As far as a crawdad "clicking" if he does I'm sure the jig rattles 100X louder so where's the comparison  :-? That's why I use to love the Stanley jigs cheap and NO rattle!

Like other people said, I let the water conditions dictate when I use a rattle. If the water is murky, or if I am fishing thick vegetation, I use a rattle. If the water is clear, I don't use a rattle.
