Consultants, please evaluate my setup lol

Hey guys I need a couple of Spinning Reels, one for my drop shot, one for shakey heads and other "bigger' finesse techniques.

Drop Shot Setup:

6'9 ML XF Daiwa Fuego Spinning Rod (1/16oz-3/8oz). I know I'm going to buy an Abu Garcia Soron STX but I can't decide between:

1.) STX 10---6lbs/110yds

2.) STX 20---8lbs/110yds

I will be using braid, with a 6lb fluorocarbon leader. I just cannot put up with the PITA aspects of Fluoro  :.

"Other Finesse":

6'10 Daiwa Fuego Spinning Rod (3/16oz-1/2oz). Once again, abu garcia soron but cannot decide between:

1.) Soron STX 20---8lbs/110yds

2.) Soron STX 40---10lb/110yds

Once again, I will be using braid with probably an 8-10 fluorocarbon leader.

So, what do yo guys think? What reel should I go with for each set up? What do you think will balance the rod vs reel weight? What will provide me with enough capacity?

Other's will disagree, but if I'm not sure I always go with the higher capacity reel. It will weigh more, but you usually have less line issues, longer casts, etc.

Yep I agree with Mr Breth, I tend to use my larger capacity reels more often.

Two STX 20's will cover your finesse needs very nicely.  15lb Sufix braid works really well on those reels for me.

Gotta tell you something about a Shimano reel to make a point but I know you want the Abu's so I'm not trying to suggest Shimanos instead.

I read on the Shimano site that one of the principles behind their propulsion spool for longer casts is that it allows the line to flow off the spool in tighter coils making it easier to flow through the stripper guide by reducing friction.

Now, if that's true then a smaller spool on a spinning reel would also have to do the same thing. 

SO............if it were me, I'd go with the smaller reels for longer casts instead of the larger reels for the same thing.  Randy said that the larger reel might give you a longer cast.  In my experience, it's the opposite and after I read that on Shimano's website I understand why I thought that now.  Of course he also said that "others would disagree", too. ;D  Guess I did.

But, I too think that the STX20 would be all the reel you would need on both setups.

soron 40 mono 10/210 yds

I'd get 2 soron 20's, outstanding reel, I use 15# braid on mine.

    I use the Soron STX for all my spinning needs. If your using braid you will be fine. The 20 is just fine for say up to 8lb fluoro, so maybe some 10lb mono. Being as braid is thinner your good to go. The SYX also comes with a braid spool and a standard spool, both are premium spools.

If you're set on the Daiwa rods, you owe it to yourself to take a look at the corresponding Daiwa reels. 

I have a Zillion rod paired with a Zillion reel and it's a match made in heaven.  They're designed to be paired up, and so are the Fuego rod and reel.
