A posting on another form stated that Abu Garcia has a recall on the 2009 Revo SX.  This is due to excessive backlash problem so many have experienced.  It was stated that the reel was sent to Pure Fishing and replaced with a new 2010 model.

Just curious if anybody else has heard of or participated in this recall.  Thanks in advance for everyone's input.

I hope this is true! I knew something was wrong, I've been using baitcasters my WHOLE life even with my experience it was a very finicky reel, and ive never had a bigger POS then those reels either.

Wonder if this would apply to the STX, every one says its such a great reel but I don't think mine is right. My Curado's will out cast the crap out of it, no matter how its set. I use it, but don't enjoy it.

Just called Pure Fishing for clarification and was told this rumor is not true.  There is no recall on these reels.  Sorry for the previous false information.

What forum?

Have been servicing fishing reels for over 25 yrs now, have never heard of any reel recall for any MFG.

Seems to me if there was an actual recall of reels it would be posted on the MFG website, under news.

Good Luck & Tight Lines!!

I wouldn't hold my breath on that one.  Sounds like the wishful thinking of someone who decided that learning how to cast was too much trouble.

My '09 STX has no problems at all. Two things to keep in mind about these.

1) Mine was way overlubed out of the box. A thorough cleaning and lube did wonders for performance.

2) When setting it up, the procedure for an '09 Revo is a bit different than for other brands. Set the mag brake to 0 %, then set the cast control cap so that you have to shake the rod tip to get the bait to drop. If it drops on it's own without shaking the rod, it's too loose. Then set the mag brake to where you want it. That little bit makes all of the difference

Ripped from the forum..

I read recently, perhaps in this forum, of another owner of this same reel that Abu had some kind of recall on them. So I called them up recently, explained the issue and got a quick "Yes, there is a problem with it. Please send it in.".
That Is Not A Recall!

It is an A Typical Warranty issue replacement.

Tight Lines! ;)

It's called a thumb. Learn to use it and the problems will go away.

If any of you just can't use the Revo SX and want to part with several at a reduced rate just let me know.

I have two and don't have any problems. Would not trade them for anything else.

Looks like a few folks missed that post.  And I'd fathom a guess more will miss this one too, so I'm closing this thread.
