onion man Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Hey guys, I just sent back a 7'0" M St. Croix Avid series spinning rod that was a two piece that I got as a gift. I now have the option to go ahead and buy the one piece Avid in the same model, or I could go for a different rod. The main rod I was thinking about was a Falcon Cara T7 7'0" Jeff Kriet Squirrel Tail rod. Have any of you guys had experience with these rods? What would you recommend to get? I like them both because they are made in the U.S. ;D Quote
Super User 00 mod Posted December 30, 2010 Super User Posted December 30, 2010 I love my avid so much I bought another one yesterday! Never had the other one! Jeff Quote
TBendBassin Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 I have alot of experience with Falcon Cara T7's not that particular model though i don't use spinning rods that often. But i can tell you that i have several cara T7's and they all have done me right. you probably wont get alot of backing on falcon rods on this site everyone is going to tell you to get an avid. A couple of years ago i sold 3 of my glx to get more falcons because i truely believe that they have the same sensitivety and i think the falcon is lighter, I would take a falcon over a loomis anyday, really the only high dollar rods i buy these days are power tackle rods those are great rods also love the actions. Get the falcon trust me you will like it. Quote
Super User bilgerat Posted December 30, 2010 Super User Posted December 30, 2010 I own an Avid and a Falcon Lowrider. The Lowrider is just below the Cara in Falcon's lineup. The Avid is a fantastic rod, no doubt. Plus St. Croix's customer service is second to none in my opinion. My Falcon is a great rod also. Falcon doesn't get the glory St. Croix and Loomis does, but that should not factor in your decision. I don't think you could go wrong with either. Quote
triwbass Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 my partner used the kriet rod and i will sling it sometimes as ell,,,have several lowriders,,,,cant go wrong at all with falcon rods and especially the model your talkin about Quote
