Went by bass pro the other day and was gonna pick up an avc70hf and the had nothing but mh rods!  Checked the new 2011 catalog and they don't have any H rods listed?  Are they going away?  I know I can get one from TW, just curious if they are discontinuing them or just Basspro is?

No, its just Bass Pro. They only carry a couple of models for almost all of the rod series they carry. St. Croix wouldn't do that. Go to their website.

I noticed at the Cincinnati Bass Pro, their whole rod lineup has changed. They carry less St. Coix and Shimano rods and have dedicated that space to the 100 dollar and less rod lineup like Falcon and Abu Veritas. I was able to order what I wanted from the catalog while at the store and it came in to the store and I didn't have to pay for shipping.

Just ordered it from TW!  No biggie, just wanted to handle it and put a reel on it before I bought it, but since I love my other avid so much, I know i'll love this one too!

Sounds like a very logical decision to me. All you have to do is scan the popular fishing forums and you'll see a ton of questions about $100 rods and reels.

With the currecnt state of the economy, I would imagine the $150+ rods/reels just aren't selling like they were a few years ago.

There are some outstanding rods below $150.00. Friend of mine buys a Tsunami airwave 7' 8/17 rod and I loved it, so I buy one in an 8' length. We are fishing on the beach and another friend, Charlie, looks at these rods and says wow and he buys one. Charlie and I are fishing at the Lake Worth pier and Charlie lands a 30# jack crevelle with it. Rods are lighter than my redbones and cast further, we paid $65.00 on sale at Dicks.

Being on a limited budget does not mean a major sacrifice.

I'm a big fan of the St. Croix Avid series. I'm sure you will be very

happy with your new rod.
