Super User BASSclary Posted December 27, 2010 Super User Posted December 27, 2010 Deleware Valley Tackle. They're a sponsor here. Quote
SeanW Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 I just did mine this morning, its pretty easy to do. Im sure there are videos on you tube as well. Quote
RussBert Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 It's easy to do if you know what you're doing AND have the proper tools, lubes and cleaning apparatus. Quote
Super User BASSclary Posted December 27, 2010 Super User Posted December 27, 2010 Check out this video. It shows the basic takedown of a baitcast reel. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted December 27, 2010 Super User Posted December 27, 2010 Check out this video. Useless. He didn't do anything. Quote
Super User BASSclary Posted December 27, 2010 Super User Posted December 27, 2010 Francho, I posted it to show the basic process of taking it apart, and the neat screw-driver trick. Not to show how to perfectly lube it. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted December 27, 2010 Super User Posted December 27, 2010 I recommend sending your reels to a pro. I don't know about DVT Mike, but I get about a dozen reels a year that people couldn't get back together, or were assembled incorrectly. Some of these blunders were expensive. Quote
Super User Shane J Posted December 27, 2010 Super User Posted December 27, 2010 No thanks! For the few bucks it costs to send in a reel for cleaning and re-lubing, I'd rather do that and not have to worry about messing something up. Quote

We see this Bag-O-Parts scenario all too often, and invariably something is missing or damaged. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted December 28, 2010 Super User Posted December 28, 2010 You should make "Bag-O-Parts" a service on your website. Do a little video, Billy Mays style..."Tired of e-clips shooting into orbit, or turning a perfectly good spinning reel to garbage" <dumps out 20 lbs. of loose reel parts> "Get DVT's Bag-O-Parts" reel package!" "Turn that pile of parts to new reels." <guy holds up brand new reel, teeth sparkle>.... 1 Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted December 28, 2010 Super User Posted December 28, 2010 Spare parts? I'm looking for a spool for a CH50MG. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted December 28, 2010 Super User Posted December 28, 2010 Spare parts? I'm looking for a spool for a CH50MG. I doubt anyone has one lying around, but maybe. Did you call Shimano Parts & Service for a price? Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted December 28, 2010 Super User Posted December 28, 2010 No, but Dan did some work on the reel for me and didn't think the spool needed to be replaced. So, I guess I don't really "need" one, I just want one if someone has a CH50MG that they have scrapped for parts. Quote
